Had a heap of away games lately (4 in 5) and thought something like this might be coming. Hawthorn played really well. I thought we should have made more of an effort to slow it down though, they ran out of their skins.

I rarely mention commentators but Nathan Brown really doesn't like us.
I thought it was Campbell Brown rooting for his beloved Hawks?

In the last quarter, the same umpire paid 3 HTB to Hawthorn close to our goals, which were all marginal, but didn't then didn't pay the HTB against Newcomb. Up the other end, the free against Andrews that wasn't there. Ump has to be sure it was a free, not guess.

Bailey, Harris, Hipwood were total liabilities.

Neale has to be better and not get tagged out so easily.

Missing players really showed today and depth is no where near as good as we think.

Umpiring was awful but it is the same every weeks. That Newcombe non call
Literally result altering.

So ****ing angry.

Lose 2 forward and defensive weapons and we drop back to the pack unfortunately

Amazing forward line and defensive line.

Absolutely average, unaccountable midfield.

I’m actually not as depressed as others. I just thought a young team with nothing to lose served it right up to us.
I didn’t think we played especially horribly, they were just better for longer.

Issues..
Backline looked horrible, Andrew’s is just a goal waiting to happen. Gardiner is a VFL footballer atm.
Stupid, lazy free kicks all over the ground, always a sign there’s issues
When the heat is on, same old story, long to congestion - can’t get anything going.

Umpiring was absolutely horrible in the end, it really is ruining the game.

Anyway, you can’t win ‘em all. We had our 3 best KPP out, loss will probably sting us into action.

Onto next week

If the Hawks kick a tiny more inaccurate and the umpires are not from the C tier division, we win that game every time.

There is no need to overreact to this one. We aren't going to have a perfect season, these games happen and we learn from them.

Still 8-2 and still 2nd.

The problem is that we are meant to be a top 2 team. The dawks are not. Top 2 teams shouldn't struggle so hard against a bottom 4 team.

Encouraging signs from Payne, Prior and Fullarton although they all faded a little bit. Biggest positive was the form of Rayner who is starting to look like a bullocking inside player in short spurts.

Outside of that I have very few positives. Bailey was particularly poor today, Charlie very selfish at times and our backline/general defense...putrid. Made a very average forward line look like world beaters.
Yes I meant to add Fullerton ,pleased with their games .

Having to play Hipwood as probably our no.1 tall second game off an ACL is really not ideal. We'd have wanted to him to get some some miles, through 8 or 9 games, alongside Daniher and McStay before finals.

McStay back next week, Daniher the week after. We then go on an undefeated run until the last game of the round against Melbourne and finish top two. We then win our games in the finals and win the flag with Joe kicking 3.

The umpiring was pretty shit in both directions.

That aside, Hawthorn were too good coming from defence in the second, and blocked up our forward line in the last.

Bailey had a fame when the 50%ers went against him. One or two of those goes for him and he has a good game.

Clear that we’re missing 2 key big forwards and a big key back.

Onto next week!

If that is the case we will be fine.
