Official changes:

OUT: Smith
IN: Russell, McKenzie, Hickey, Hall for Smith.

Full team:

FB: Taylor, Warnock, Stanley
HB: Iles, Thompson, Wilko
C: Rischitelli, Hunt, Sexton
HF: Bennell, Lynch, McQualter
FF: Brown, Day, Russell

Fol: Hickey, Prestia, Ablett

Int: Magin, McKenzie, Shaw, Caddy, Tape, Hall, Horse

Note, three of our INT members are emergencies. The 22 squad will be announced on the weekend.

Not surprised to see Smith out. Not sure what's up with him, but the rest is needed to regather himself and come out firing.

Hickey a good in. Has been in fantastic form in the 2s.

McKenzie, Hall and Russell to be the emergencies I would think!

Magin to sub.

Surprised to see Stanley named in the back pocket. Don't think he will be there for very long though, with Tape starting on the bench and to probably take his place.

agree...he found the step up to be.... well....a big step up
Hopefully he'll find some composure.
The sort of player that would do very well in a good side...unfortunately there is nowhere to hide in our team...a bad thing...and a good thing

Yeah I agree, it was always going to be a massive step up though. The quality of the TSL is not that great. I thought he did pretty well however. He made a decent account of himself and wasn't the worst player in any of his games. He seems like he is doing everything he can to be a better player, which is great. Named on the extended bench for this week's game. Hopefully he can get a run and display some improvement.

Russell will be an in Sunny, he's been named on the bench.

You mean he's not named on the extended bench? And you're right! Russell is named on the field and I completely missed it.

Would say McKenzie, Hall... don't know the third. Surely not Magin. Maybe Tape to be the third EMG?

Zac Smith to make his NEAFL debut or to be rested?

I would say Hall, Tape, McKenzie wont play. Hope Cannon gets on a flight to Sydney and has a good hit out v Swans 2nds.

Agree re: McKenzie, needs to pull his finger out and show what made him damaging last year. Work rate is key for him, if he isn't working he wont be receiving the handballs and getting into open space for those 60-70m kicks. As some media experts say, he is one of those 100m players and needs to get into open space run, carry, deliver long.

Also, McKenzie announced in the 2s team. Won't play.

Doesnt deserve to be in the 1's at the moment.

I agree with May, he at least showed endeavour and committment and I think really took a step forward this year in the early part of the season. So deserves that leniency to be let back in. Plus its a defender for a defender :p

If May can recapture the form he had in the NAB Cup after such a big stint on the sidelines (I think he's been gone for 4 weeks?), then he'd be a lock for the 22 right now.

My only worry is that since he's missed so much game-time, he will get obliterated and his confidence would be shot. Would much rather play him for a few weeks in the 2s to make sure he's still in form, and if he has lost some, build it back up.

But named as an EMG. Probably won't play I don't think.

Early tip is for Magin and Hall to sub with each other. But WB Hally! :D

he's a bit... gun shy this year, it seems.

i've got 18 on my jersey, might need to get a new one if he keeps up his current form ;D

i reckon it's just a mental thing though, with his knee injury over the preseason.

Glad Hall is back in expect him or Magin to be the subs.

Good to see Hickey is getting a run.

Want Mckenzie to start ruling the 2's so he can push for senior selection again.

I'll be happy if we can just push all 4 quarters out. Not as optimistic as some people here, but a 4 quarter effort will keep me happy.

Also just noticed that Brown is named in defence now! Changed with the final teams. In the back pocket. Seems to have swapped around with Shaw, who's named up forward. I wonder if this has to do with Taylor going out. We only have Warnock and Thompson as talls in defence really. Obviously for Dawes and Cloke.

Wonder how long Brown will be in defence for. Great deal of our experience for this game is in the back half. Stanley, Warnock, Brown and Iles.

Only McQualter up forward with more than 20ish games of experience.

quick thought, gaz hasn't won a toss all year, i'm fairly sure. ever since the first game, i've noticed this. i think harley may have won the toss up in darwin, but besides that we've lost them all, iirc. lift your game, gaz!

Difference between having Brown up front and McQualter is that McQualter is a half forward as his primary position whereas Brown is a defender.

That said I am happy to see Browndog back on defense as he's just too slow to commit properly as a FF or FP. Shaw has speed and can present more effectively if not as intelligently.
