Disappointing to see Henry dropped in particular.
Shows to me a lack of nouse on the part of the coaches and selectors. He was one of the few bright lights against the Bulldogs. It's an absurd decision. I am fast losing faith in Mc Crae and his cohort.

Does Murphy coming back in so soon say what they think about Ruscoe who hasn’t played yet or am I reaching a bit

After speaking to Ruscoe himself about this, he said that he’s in competition for spots with IQ,Noble & Maynard since he plays higher up the ground.

Murphy is the replacement for our taller defenders (Moore, Howe, Madgen, Roughead).

I understand people will be upset about Poulter being dropped but

I think some people are struggling to wrap their head around this. It's not as if these boys are getting dropped and not receiving feedback on where they need to make improvements.

T.Brown, Hosky, Sidey to name a few need to perform otherwise we need to give Henry, Poulter etc an extended run. On the proviso though that those young boys go back and dominate at VFL level.
I would be happier if the 3 older players you mention were made to languish in the VFL. At least 2 of 3 of them will never be any better players than they are now.

Ruscoe’s competition in that backline is more the HBFer than the taller/deeper defender IMO. He has much greater senior competition to better before coming in.

Doubt it. I reckon its a match up and playing style thing. They'd have Murph earmarked for someone they think he's a better match up on. If they wanted more run Ruscoe probably gets the job. That Ruscoe has been named an emergency suggests to me the selectors are giving a nod/encouragement for his recent form.

At 193 cms, he is taller than Murphy and The Madge, let alone Howe at 190cms.
Noble and Q are 13 cms shorter, so if he thinks he is small, i'm not sure what he is referring to;).

Also 2 cm shorter than Paddy Cripps, we should turn him into a midfielder!

When Sunday rolls around and you see Perth’s weather, most will probably understand why Henry was omitted and McCreery kept in
For a reputation as a sunny place Perth gets a hell of a lot of rainfall and genuinely torrential . There have been many games played in wet conditions in the past few years in comparison to supposedly miserable Melbourne.

Perth gets most of its rainfall in the cooler months & bugger all over summer.

Pendles skews the average quite a bit by himself.
As i count it there are 36 players on AFL lists who are 32yo or more. We have 1 of them, most teams have one or two. Most are playing 1sts footy. As someone said take Pendles out of our group but take Mundy out of Freo and the gap between us and them grows

We have been putting out 22's each week that are older than average, as much as anything its to do with the lack of AFL level 21-26 year olds on our list. Pendles doesnt cause this.

I was speaking to Ivan Reitman the other day.

I’ve always admired your mathematical expertise.

Picking side to win. Playing to win, like we should. Rebuild will happen in the course of time. No confusion from my perspective.

The 22 fielded will always play to win.

Just the names listed that make it more likely or less.

In a rebuild you shouldn't be cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Rebuilding with mid range picks is not great and relies on a lot of luck. Not to mention we haven't even hit rock bottom due to pendles and co still running around.

Dunno. He was truly horrid last week. Every time he had the pill he made a diabolical skill or decision error. If he is a bloke who loses confidence easily he may have wanted a breather. I'm sure the coaching staff would be talking to him all of the time explaining why he is out and what he needs to work on. When he is bad he really knows how to make an impression.
