Thanks. Not a great stat considering ladder positions…. I hope we don’t play any of the kids as the sub. Complete waste. Better off playing full VFL game
I agree. That's why I couldn't understand making Reef the sub one week, then dropping him for the next week, which was a VFL bye.
It meant he went 3 weeks without a game.

I actually like the selections. Henry was stiff but with both elliot and Ginni coming in he was always under pressure.

Playing Cox in the ruck is smart, gives Begg a rest.

Fly clearly isn't tanking out, he's balancing developing klds with winning games. Better for kids to be learning in competitive teams with a core of senior players than getting rogered every week.

Henry and Poulter dropped.

I don’t understand the logic behind dropping Henry, who could easily have had 3 goals if he didn’t have the yips, but also he 10 disposals, 6 marks and 1 tackle, while McCreery is retained with 3 disposals and no tackles.

Honestly it’s a shocking message to send in regards to being rewarded for performance.

And from what it seems neither Henry or reef are playing vfl. So will sit on the sidelines this wkend.

Wrong.
WHE goes for contested marks. Henry lost his spot because he ducked up almost every possession he had.
WHE is better that’s why he’s in the side and Henry isn’t.
Sorry but if you’re trying to say Henry doesn’t go for contested marks you’re flat out wrong.
His marking game is just as strong as WHE’s, and comfortably so. I wish the coaching staff had shown confidence in him and backed him in to kick straight this week. If his radar hadn’t been off last week he would easily have been out most dangerous target inside 50.

People concerned with Henry’s misses. I look at how many shots on goal he had. How many other forwards got near it? It’s a bs decision to drop him. Anyways good luck to young Murphy. I hope our midfield doesn’t get its pants pulled down again
Would of Dropped Mcreery Instead

I imagine that McCreary has been given a reprieve for the fact he was under done with the flu last Friday (iirc him and Ginni were the 2 who missed training).

I too am dissapointed the Ollie Henry was omitted, given he was the most dangerous player in the first half, however the only other player I see as deserving to miss is t brown - but it seems the coaching staff want one player off the bench to attend the centre bounces.

Sidebottom I think whilst hasn't lit the world on fire has been serviceable most games this year and I haven't really understood the hate on here. You have to remember the new game plan isn't about accumulation of disposals, so his 15-18 disposals (as long as effective) will always keep him in the side. WHE has gone okay the past two weeks so the committee sticks by him.

A good problem to have if we feel a few players are stiff (Henry and Poulter for me), got to have these players bangin down the door and really owning a position in the 22 and really earn it.

We are not playing finals this year. Full stop.
We've got a bunch of kids who show real promise. We need to get games into them to help them come off a good base next year.
By playing these kids each week we will finish bottom 4.
That, my friends, is not tanking. It is good management.

Real promise is a bit of a stretch, seen some glimpses but not overly excited

We may have some trades that could yield first rounders. I think we roll the dice and see if we improve on what we have.

Maybe T Brown on his Last Chance where Henry is not?

I think the coaches want a certain number of players to rotate through the centre bounces. For Sunday could it include: Crisp, Adams, Lipinski, Degoey, Elliot and T brown, which would mean that Pendles will stay at Hb and same with Nick Daicos (or even hf for him)?

This could change from a week to week basis.

Dropping Henry is one of the worst selection calls I’ve seen in some time. The kid was everywhere in the first half last week, clearly our best forward, but just lacked confidence in his execution. To help that, we drop him? Ridiculous.

With that said, overall, it’s a good side and much stronger than last week.

Except

… They all left post B Scott departure

Which full circle brings me back to my point that they should’ve invested in youth and delisted the ‘good blokes’ but list cloggers sooner
Only trouble with your theory is we have dropped a lot off the list last few seasons and replaced them with lot lot of kids who are later draft picks with only 1 top 10 kid and 2 late teens in the 12 picks from the main draft plus multiple rookies etc. To load up with more average kids would be list suicide

They’re not the same type of forward though. Thankfully we have Billy back, but without him, there’s close to zero forward pressure, which McCreery provides in spades (although he just didn’t show it last week).

It couldn’t have been McCreery vs Henry at the selection table. Would’ve been closer to WHE vs Henry.
