Why does Mitchell run across Impeys path and force him to make that handball to him?

Just halts our run... Impey is already on the move and on his natural foot. Mitchell almost ensures he has to get the receive with his placement and then ends up running on to his right and having to turn in to traffic to give an extra unrequired handball just to get out of trouble.
