GOLD COAST

**** Carlton.
It took until the fourth quarter to put them to bed, but ultimately the Blues came away with the victory at Marvel.
Mac Andrew is a hell of a player. Despite conceding four goals to Charlie Curnow, he looks like he's going to be a seriously exciting prospect to watch over the coming years.
The Suns found themselves second to the contest constantly, but despite being outnumbered to the ball they managed to get it within a straight kick late in the third.
This is the fifth time the Suns have played away from home, and the fifth loss.
Their home form is excellent, but this is something Hardwick will need to address urgently if the Suns are going to finally get into their maiden finals appearance.

ESSENDON

In Ridley we trust.
It wasn't pretty, and we continued our run of playing ass sides into form, but we got it done.
Of course, Dusty was always going to get it together when playing us, but he was outpointed by the milestone man in Jake Stringer, who slotted 4 goals in his 200th game.
Credit to Jayden Laverde; often the whipping boy and ire to many (myself included), he played at outstanding game, and alongside Mason Redman, really showed just how rock solid our defence is right now.
We capitalised on the Tigers' turnovers, which is has been their concern all year.
Not the sort of game you'd go back and watch the replay of. Which is why I haven't.
Entrenched in second place at Round 12. What a year so far.

The Suns at home go up a level, and will absolutely push us to the limit here. Realistically, I feel as though both of our clubs are fairly close in terms of talent, but we have this new-found grit and determination to grind out wins no matter how ugly.

I think we'll get through this one to round out the weekend, and then get into recovery for arguably the biggest game of the year so far. One week at a time.

Essendon by 16.
