can't disagree.

beating the 10th placed team should be a mandatory thing for a top 8 team, let alone top 6 and even still top 2 which we currently are.

These are the games you just have to win to even get a pass mark, let alone taken seriously as a contending team.
Gold Coast are a top 8 team at Metricon, a top 2 team at Darwin and a bottom 4 team interstate.

Any VFL watchers know if moyle and Bryan have faced off and how bristle went?
Last time they played.
Bryan 13 disposals 5 marks 38 hitouts.
Moyle. 9 disposals 2 marks 20 hitouts.
From memory Moyle started well but Bryan got on top after quarter time. We won by a point.
2022 game was even.
Bryan 13 disposals 3 marks 32 hitouts
Moyle 14 disposals 2 marks 37 hitouts.

The other factor that Brad weighs up in the Bryan V Goldy debate is how well each work with our midfielders and structure at training (and in games). It’s not just if ruck A can beat ruck B.

Goldy is hard to leave out, but it would be interesting to know if Brad has an opinion that Bryan is valuable ‘in case of emergency only’ .

Goldy has been well beaten by 2 physical rucks in the past 2 weeks. Moyle is young and inexperienced but he is the physical type too. Will be interesting to see how Goldy goes and also Moyle who we were linked to a few weeks ago

im for resting goldy and playing Bryan as the solo ruck. Think goldy needs it.

I hope everyone knows that Bryan won’t give us anything while the ball is in the air. He has basically no aerial presence. He has other great attributes, but if Scott thinks being able to hold your own in marking contests is a huge component of his number 1 ruckman and even more so of your number 2, doubt we will see Bryan much this season.

Goldstein isn't exactly an aerial presence.

Some interesting stats before the game this weekend:

  • we are ranked 18th for clearance differential since Round 8 (previously second)
  • since Round 8 we rank 1st for pressure differential and for scores conceded off turnover.

So our clearance game has dropped off but our team defense has drastically improved. This could be down to losing players such as Draper and Parish but could also be a change in the way we want to play

Goldy being smashed in the ruck the last two weeks has a lot to do with the clearance differential

And parish out doesn't help as he & Goldy were working well.

Hopefully the HTB rule tightening helps us this week as Rowell holds onto ball longer than most and uses his size to eventually get through.

The umps let things go too much. Games so far being umpired like they should have been all along. Seems less congested and stoppages much shorter time, liking it.

Goldy averages 2 marks a game. He offers very little in the air

I'd also add the first quarter against GWS(Briggs?) ruck, Goldy got smashed as well.
Thankfully goldy turned it around and so did we.

Bryan with the team in Gold Coast. Didn't see Goldstein in Essendon's story. Looks like Goldstein is out and Bryan in or he could just be a travelling emergency. I'm expecting a late change though.

Goldstein rarely gets out marked, and if you don’t rate goldy in the air. You will hate Bryan in that department.
Goldy is going at a whopping 0.5 contested marks a game.

I think we'll be ok without his "aerial presence."
