Round 13: St Kilda vs Geelong, Saturday Night @ the MCG

Melbourne and Brissy had no chance as Ball put a ridiculous figure on his head which out priced both those sides, so in reality Ball gets for instance $700,000 1st year,300,000 2nd year and a bag of twistees for his 3rd year.

That is manipulating the draft in my book.

sure is, yet we are painted as the bad guys in the whole episode and he gets of scot-free!

What ever Ball wanted for his pay meant nothing. He nominated for the draft as any uncontracted player could have. It means anyone could have picked him up and paid him what ever on what ever contract or on no contract for 1 year. They didnt manipulate the draft. This is one thing I dont get about this code. Too much hand shake business. Whens free trade coming in?

The votes I would love to be giving at the end of this game...

5. N. Riewoldt
4. T. Walsh
3. N. Dal Santo
2. L. Montagna
1. Z. Dawson

Then we might win.

But seriously, I do have a bit of hope for this game... It will be tough, but it's good to see the players seem to think we can win it and they will be giving it everything with the bye the next week. Need BIG performances from our BIG players.

From Twitter

Release all teams for Rd13 tonight is delayed as teams needing to be manually lodged with AFL. Apologies but this is beyond control of clubs. AFL expectation is that all teams to be issued by 5.30pm.

The good news is that the only side that can regularly blow others out of the water in the second half is Collingwood.

Well done on the avatar Fez man!

Pretty sure only players in the PSD can nominate their salary.

Melbourne could have taken him and paid him bare minimum I think...

Think that's the old system (where you could only go into the PSD if you were a listed player).

Clearly players are now putting a price on their head.

Clearly there was tampering by Ball's manager in nominating a price of $1m for 2 years - full well knowing Ball would renegotiate his contract to add a 3rd year for _uck all (this has been done and reported in the media).

Clearly there was tampering by Ball's refusal to even listen to the pitches of other clubs.

But that's the system.

Saints
IN: Montagna, Blake
OUT: Simpkin, Ledger

Geelong
In: Wojinski
Out: Joel Selwood

Is there anything Jason Blake can't do?!

He is a massive inclusion.

Ledger very unlucky, but perhaps not wanting him to get smashed against the big bodies of the Cats.

Could've sworn I'd beat Thunda/Benchy this week :(

Bit disappointed with Square going out (with no Zeb game this week), but very happy we finally have a backup ruckman into the team.

.... Blake? was expecting him to be out for another 2 weeks. Good inclusion but as a whole our forward line hasn't been helped at all. disappointing.

Who are the emergencies, because I still don't expect monty to play

Not much faith in the young Ross, its alright to play them agaisnt the dogs but hese are the games we need to play them in.

Ross will slowly get rid of all the young blokes as we get closer to finals and go with the "experience" again. He will then say when questioned "we have had 9 new players debut for the club this year, blah blah blah blah"

Backs: Dempster 24, Dawson 6, Baker 10.
Half Backs: Gram 1, Fisher 25, Gwilt 33.
Centreline: Goddard 18, Armitage 20, Jones 4.
Half Forwards: Peake 30, Gilbert 19, Schneider 13.
Forwards: Milne 44, Riewoldt 12, Montagna 11.
Followers: McEvoy 5, Dal Santo 26, Steven 3.
Interchange: Clarke 8, Gamble 16, Ray 22,
Blake 27.

Emergencies: Polo 34, Koschitzke 23, Ledger 37.

In: Montagna 11, Blake 27.

Out: Simpkin 31 Omitted, Ledger 37 Omitted.

Ease up.

Ledger would get smashed against the big bodies of the Cats.

Gives them a chance to get some heavy training into him over the next two weeks.

Great to see Montagna back but a bit of a shame to see Ledger out, I guess he was the most likely swap for Montagna though.

Can't really argue with Blake's inclusion either given that he gives us a back up ruck option and will allow Fisher and Gilbert to push up the ground. Hopefully he can make amends for his f*** up last time we played them.

Still no Kosi or other tall forward option though, unless Blake is playing at full forward.

The two inclusions are pretty key players. Note sure what the alternatives were. Gram, Raph, Gamble, Peake, Dempster, Baker - all pretty solid last week.

The only one that comes to mind is Gilbo, but even in poor form he's averaging 16 possessions and 4 tackles a game.

Who is the sub brothers? Raph?

Funny that - I was actually going to suggest that Polo might come into the team - but chickened out cause a few of you would go nuts.

His field kicking was still ordinary in the VFL, but his ability to get the ball in congested situations (and get boot to ball) would have appealed to Ross - who I'm sure knows the Saints have to at least break even in the clearances to have a show this week.

Bit surprised that Walsh didn't remain an emergency in front of Kosi, but still think he'll get his chance after the bye.

Good experience for the kid though. Its youth that has gotten us back in the hunt and should stick with it. Ledger has only played 2 half games...

Look at the team:

1st year players: 0
2nd year players: 0
3rd year players: 1

Only Gamble is new & Armo, Steven & McEvoy new from Grand Final 2 team
