Weird that most of the squad just looked flat from the get go. A few were able to to work their way into the game but far too many just looked lethargic.
Understand a few underdone but not that many. Don't see a drop off liek

Midfield is concerning, undermanned to the point it's putting too much pressure on everyone else. Not going to win many like that.

Hunter Clark can play in the VFL for the rest of his career until he gets fit and actually shows some semblance of a defensive game. He’s got us all fooled with his flashy brilliance once every 5 games.

We can't field a side if that is the criteria.

As disappointing as the Collingwood loss. Missed wood and mckenzie running hard into defence. Clark not ready for seniors. Byrne's either. Jones looks underdone or injured as does Marshall. And why do we let Howard take kick ins?

Pathetic performance. Only a change in mindset can turn that around.

Selection wasn't where the game was lost but I think we need to make the tough call on Marshall and have him sit out for 2-3 weeks in an effort to get his body right. He's not giving us any more than Tom Campbell would right now. Wouldn't mind trialing Membrey as a permanent half back which means we can bring Sharman in.

The effects of our cardio-heavy pre season have well and truly worn off. Other teams have now caught up in terms of match fitness and maybe our guys are starting to burn out. I think Long has overtaken Butler as the pressure forward and we shouldn't be carrying two small forwards who barely get the footy.

My changes for next week would be:

Out: Marshall (managed), Butler, Wangmil
In: Campbell, Sharman, McKenzie

B: Paton, Howard, Wilkie
HB: Membrey, Battle, Sinclair
C: Hill, Crouch, McKenzie
HF: Billings, Sharman, Long
F: Ryder, King, Higgins

Foll: Campbell, Gresham, Ross
Int: Byrnes, Clark, Jones, Webster

Luckily I'm in Europe for all of July, I was going to work out how to watch AFL games over there - now not necessary.

I'm away for next week, wish it was longer now.

How can an AFL team, capable of some very good footy, continue to enter 50 so disgracefully poorly. Fat boy Lade can go as far as I’m concerned. Only impact he’s had is snapping Paton’s leg (who’s a shadow of his former self).

Why do you guys wait until we are all so broken and then continuously harp on about this? Wouldn't it be a time to be more lenient when emotions are high and we are all hurting. It's clear the list don't give a stuff and the club has never given a stuff about us fans and we are here policing this stuff on a forum with a weird enjoyment doing it.

Wood McKenzie Windhager Sharman wouldn’t have made any difference tonight it was won and lost above the shoulders

That was so annoying and frustrating to watch. Our zone was like trying to use a fishing net with a meter wide holes. They smashed us on the outside.

We had no run and drive and seemed to have no options to kick to. They locked us in well, but were also 1st to the ball more often than not.

Jones looked off the pace, Clark looked promising 1st quarter and then basically invisible. Ro looks like he is labouring big time - must be carrying something.

How we look up the ground and can't find a target with Members, Ryder, Marshall, King and often decent leafing targets like Billings, Higgins, etc for such large portions of the game and play some tempo is concerning.

Gresh played his heart out.

Bombers did play their 1 game of the year they look like world champs

Total lack of effort. Absolutely 0 desire for the contest and second to the ball all night.

Billings and Byrnes were next ro useless.
Crouch was very, very quiet.
Sinclair had plenty of it but not really effective.
Marshall is out of sorts.
Higgins?

Why we don't MAKE King lead and kick in front of him is mystifying...

Finally Clark.....I'm over him. Doesn't try. Disappointing is the politest way I can put it right now.

I think we have overrated ourselves as a team and become complacent.
If you look at our wins none have been overly impressive and the best of them have been won in short bursts where it's often just our opposition playing bad not us playing well.
Think were a 8-13th side at best

We are a very slow side who don't spread for each other, too slow up front with little pressure, backline has to fix everyone else's issues. Forward line is lazy and dumb. No leads, no pressure and little cohesion. King is overrated and lazy but gets away with it because he's talented. Bags teammates but doesn't work hard. Marshall is not the player we hoped he would be.
Reckon Marshall has a lower abdominal strain, can't pick up his right leg. Stop playing him.

Bottom 4 in the league for transitioning from D50 in to scores.

Today we moved the ball like a VAFA C Section Reserves side for 90% of the game.

Sinclair and Hill with costly turnovers at critical times hurt us too. The ball is meant to be in their hands for a reason.
