Annoying can't accept how the last few minutes were played but i wouldn't be dropping anyone. It frustrating as hell but it happen learn from it and move on.

Do need some more bigger bodies coming through though hopefully we target one with our first pick this year. Or begauly or clarke to come along.

Honestly, he's a protected species on these boards.

Got man handled by a man a foot shorter and 10kgs lighter than him in the decisive moment of the game.

If that was Goddard or Green, he would have copped an absolute barrage.

Definitely still very light on but he was quite good tonight I thought, the question is why in the **** is our weakest one on one player one out on the goal line with the game in the balance??

Once again our players just aren't either a) playing to structure when the game is on the line or b) not smart enough to make on the spot adjustment when clear mismatches are evident

Swans can beat you 3 ways.
We can only beat you one way which is to play as fast as possible. As soon as we went into tempo footy and tried to keep them inside the contest we very predictably lost.

Correct.
As soon as we stopped running and moving it on, trying to milk the clock, we were just pathetic.
FFS if Joe had handballed to Connor, that ball would have been up the other end before you could blink.
But you need to be able to do more than just one thing.

That is just cheap. What makes you thing we will learn from it. Goddard is a bit long in the tooth to learn from it. Joe is in his 5th year. Composure is not something you learn late in your career.
20 other players saw it happen, even if Goddard retires without learning the rest will

I think thats harsh but there some truth to it. We were outplayed for much of the night, had a great 40 minutes, then lacked composure. Probably didnt deserve to win given how bad the swans kicked anyway
It is true. They had many more scoring shots than us even though we missed a lot of goals we'd ordinarily kick. What's not accounted for is the momentum lost. We get a few of those lost goals and who knows where the momentum takes us.

Swans can beat you 3 ways.

They can bash you on the inside, they can now outgun you out in the open and they can beat you by sheer weight of individual brilliance through Franklin and Heeney doing outrageous match winning things.

I'm not sure how people can get disappointed when it happens in such a predictable fashion and because of such obvious deficiencies.
Wasn't so long ago we were reasonably capable with this.

And now we're a completely different side. Watson can't carry us any more and our kids aren't experienced in games and moments that matter.

Overall it's a bloody good learning curve for all of them because the Swans are absolutely the gold standard in this shit

So they explained the behind to Buddy.

According to Carey, because Kelly took it over, it is a behind. Had a Sydney player have taken it over, it would have been no score.

I've never heard that before. I guess it doesn't matter in the end

I showed match highlights of the 96 prelim to my 10 year old pre-match to give him a sense of the SCG cauldron in a big game. He went to bed at 1/2 time. He would've heard some serious swearing to match the cauldron finish of 96. Couldn't have been a worse way to lose. We had them and should never have given them a sniff.

I'm an absolute knob straight after a loss and like to make exaggerated posts so your sense-making post has my head spinning.

I do agree he had some good moments tonight - he's a good 'loose' defender type, but gee he is poor in anything close to resembling a genuine one on one contest.

so, some +ves, cos what else are ya gonna do

Conor McKenna keeps growing.
Colyer had a game
Baguley & Hurley - solid as always
Hartley did well on Buddy

About it.
Skills were poor.
Looking forward to Parish and Hooker back and not playing that s***house ground for another 2 years.

Apologies, got that wrong way round (Gleeson is taller though).

Which brings to question, why is he 7kg lighter?
Because Gary Rohan is a strong mother****er

Got to say I've never heard that before, a ball is touched before crossing the line it's a dead ball, no score...live & learn I guess.
