I hope it was just take a bit more time, rather than straight on the boot to a 3 v 1.
So if we dont get the mark or free they can't score.

if you wait 10-15 serconds before going long you remove any chance the bombers have of rebounding I guess

Why? Maric did the right thing to try and score again ffs.
30 seconds and he takes up 10 of those, any chance of Essendon getting another goal is slim.
Given the amount of turnovers we give away kicking backwards he did the right thing.

It was a bad kick forward tho. Needed to go deeper as he just kicked it into dangerous turnover territory.

So who else doesn't think that Allen, not having played any football in three months, should have been brought through the WAFL first?

We've seen this situation so many times over the past few years that it is just a collective sigh and shrug of the shoulders now when said returning player is rustier than an abandoned ute outside Kalgoorlie.


7 of 10 Bomber goals commenced from defensive half chains - there is the evidence of the foolhardiness of selecting far too many talls up forward once again - but this is also something that we are all far too used to seeing.


And to change it up we have a second game key position forward as the substitute. Don't expect much to change in the second half then.


The frustration is the team should be more competitive than it is - contested possession is even, clearances are +6 to West Coast's advantage, inside 50s are near even - yet there is near zero forward pressure as with so many KPPs up forward it leaves Essendon with numbers getting free every time they run out of defence.

The difference in the game is the 50+ margin in effective disposals due to the freedom the Bombers have when transitioning.

If that were clamped down, West Coast would arguably be in front.

But the selection took that option off the table before the first bounce.

Regarding Allen. I was one of them but also said I'd gladly eat my shorts if he performs.

So here I am, in the Allen amnesty thread - I was wrong.

I think it was more because he banged it forward exactly where the dons players were set up , didn’t allow our forwards to come forward and create a contest. If he had chipped it that would of given the forwards time to come up to the 50.
