It is me or do you guys reckon mick doesn't have full control of who plays/doesn't.
Take the sub rule for example, mick ran with first year players most of the time, and kept the same guy in there each week. (Eg. Fasolo in 2011) troy menzal has more class than half the side. So why can't he crack it for a game?

We put up an effort and unlucky against Essendon, Hawthorn & Sydney ..and maybe should have beaten Essendon and Hawthorn.

Today is really weird.. Collingwood have players like Sinclair & Brown having blinders...alongside Swan and Pendelbury completely slaughtering Murphy, Judd, Gibbs, Cachia.

They looked mentally tired since quarter time. Maybe an aberration...I hope it is because today was just sickening.

Carrots, McInnes had nice first game back.

There is a serious attitude issue at the club. You don't reach the pinnacle of a discipline by accepting mediocrity. I wouldn't mind comparing how Hawthorn and Carlton train, the intensity, the intent, the ferocity. It just seems like everything is lax down at the club.

They treat AFL footy like a joke. We all take our jobs/education seriously, and I personally try to always get the best out of myself in everything I do, absolutely no excuses and zero acceptance of mediocrity. It is their bloody job to kick an oval football and chase it around. It's not rocket science, everybody knows it takes supreme dedication, physical conditioning and mental strength among other things. Unfortunately, Carlton lack all of this.

I don't mean to bash Lucas, but a few weeks back I remember him missing a shot at goal on a tight angle at a critical time and having the audacity to laugh about it. Now I cannot imagine anybody at Geelong or Hawthorn finding that funny in the slightest. Many things have to change at this club before Carlton can become a powerhouse again, administration, coaching personnel, everything.

It just hurts seeing no drive and determination to excel from this bunch.

It's like they're fine with losing, as long as they play alright compared to the others and still get their salary. This results in playing as a bunch of individuals and not the team.
No intensity
No hunger
It doesn't even look like the players are aware of how much this game meant. A joke.

Doesn't matter. Season is over with 7 weeks to go. What a massively underwhelming year.

Nevermind, only 8 and a bit months til we get a chance to make up for it :(

You need one of these:

Both a Paul Chapman if you can get one, but also someone prepared to tell his team mates some seriously hard truths about their efforts. No more stars, no more funky hair cuts, no more mini-celebrities, just guys who give enough of a crap to put in 100%, and guys who don't have a future at your club.

Seriously, I think Carlton's issue isn't that its players are crap, it's:

1. That its good players aren't trying hard enough
2. That its average players aren't trying hard enough
3. That its structures are fundamentally terrible

There is enough quality in your list to be competitive. But when your A graders are apparently putting in between 50-75% effort you won't win many games.

exactly the sub rule as much as i hate it is a perfect way for someone of a Menzel callibre to ease into the system, played seniors in the sanfl and played well so why he is getting a game is beyond me...
west coast did with gaff as well...

but really though who knows whats going on at this club atm...

Do they have any pride in the jumper? In the club? In their performances? Do they feel any obligation at all to the supporters, the members, the sponsors?

Remember, this is the playing group that essentially cost a coach his job, because apparently he "lost them". Who do they think they are?

Also, whoever is doing selection for Carlton, they should not be allowed to select a forward line that does not contain:

1. At least two talls
2. No more than two opportunistic midget forwards
3. At least one defensive forward type who can lay a tackle on loose backmen

And when 3 opposition tall forwards are running rampant, FFS just put someone in your backline 40 metres out from goal and leave them there as long as necessary.

It always seems that our kids always take longer to get a game and are always dispatched back to the 2's

your aware that mcinnes was the 38th player we've tried this year off a 44 player list right? Its not like we havent played the kids

Hey wook I'm very aware. Have a feeling he'll continue to improve and if it wasn't for that game at the end of the year when he did his knee, we would be seeing his 15th game for the year tonight.

We are too small in the forward line, if not the whole team.

As I said, I'm not into bagging players, but with this season done, maybe a forward line of Menzel, Mitchell, Henderson, Gibbs, Yarran and walker should be trialled? Maybe not that exactly, but a change for sure. Other teams seem to throw players forward against us with great results. Maybe it's time Garlett and betts aren't put up there together?

Ps. I also know that our midfield hasn't helped our cause up forward, but as I said before, if our midfield is half made up of stoppers it just falls into our oppositions hands.
