Forward line isn't even dysfunctional, they can't function when all we do is bomb it long on their head
We rarely hit up at the kicker though. Lotsa blokes hanging for a kick out the back or to play jack in the box. Chicken and egg thing but if someone puts a lead at the ball they don't have to bomb it to 20 campaigners.

They do lead, the ball just goes over their heads

campaigner carried on where he started the year in defense, dropping marks, not contesting standing flat footed
Remember when I said he was struggling at the start of the year and Tulip said he was in form
Always right gang strikes again.

How's the long bombs to Kozzy 1 v 2 all night? FMD

Goody wants him to win mark of the year more than he wants us to resemble a decent team.

So glad Petty was back in tonight…

Silver lining stuff. Scoring shots the same. Team level match stats in Melbourne’s favour in most key areas. Geelong had some intriguing umpiring decisions to their advantage.

Ultimately though Geelong just stood up and took more of their big opportunities, and Melbourne stumbled and fumbled too often when their chances came.

I still think it’s retrievable as the problem is a bit of method and also a bit of confidence. But I’m not bullish on it getting turned around.

Maybe that’s because they are being coached by a 120kg 6ft5 lumbering bloke who loved it to be kicked on his head, given he had zero pace or acceleration.

Ridiculous coaching appointment. If it were any other industry, he’d have been moved on weeks ago. (Last year actually).

But afl coaching is jobs for mates, where they all cling on as long as their head coach mate clings on.

Didn't mind Petty in to run with Cameron but once he was knocked out there wasn't really a match up for him down there, especially as he could barely read the flight of the ball in the air. Needed to swing him forward to just force a contest against Stewart. Had zero impact but not sure if Tommo would have offered much more.

That's a dumb way too look at it. Clarkson Hardwick Sheedy Pagan Parkin etc. Heaps of good coaches were average players.

Yze was as skilled as you could see and our midfield is as bland as could be.

Basing a coach off their playing ability is incredibly stupid.

Tomo offered form and fitness. Petty did SFA most of the night.

Tommo has played a good game in defence this year, that's more than Petty has done this year.
