I wasn't around then. But I genuinely feel this has been Zorks best season. This attitude worked for McEnroe as well in 1984. Had his best year ever focusing on just his tennis and mostly keeping his notorious temper under control.

Tell us you haven't actually watched any footy this season without telling us you haven't watched any footy this season.
For once you had a post that wasn’t 1000 words long and got to the point quickly and in fact had a point.Tell us you haven't actually watched any footy this season without telling us you haven't watched any footy this season.

Unusual for you but incorrect as usual
I think answerths disposal definitely looked better in 2024. Maybe I was grading on a curve though.
Most games will be like that for the next few rounds, not just for us, but for teams around us on the ladder.Good that we won this game as that ladder is tight.
Sitting 8th but a loss would have had us 13th one spot behind the Hawks.

2) Hugh McCluggage is worth every cent
Entering this season, Hugh McCluggage was one of the hottest free agents on the market, and he again reminded everyone on Friday night just why. Recently locked away by the Lions for seven years on a hefty annual salary, McCluggage was a prime mover in Brisbane's come-from-behind win over Melbourne. He helped turn the tide in the second half with 19 of his 28 disposals, using the ball superbly to help set up numerous scoring chains. Then, with 75 seconds remaining and scores level, the 26-year-old delivered four premiership points for the Lions with an exquisite set shot from the boundary line. When McCluggage plays well, good things happen for Brisbane and he's well on the way to justifying his price tag. – Michael Whiting
Well I hope 2027 to 2041 can buck the trend!!!Hope you are right. Then 2025 can have 2002 written all over it and 2026 can have 2003 written all over it.
In his draft year, Hugh was known a classy goal kicking midfielder.
he was almost universally considered to be the #! Draft pick
The class has always been there but the goal kicking has until recently, been a disappointment.
He appears to have turned the corner. He's kicked some absolute beauties this season, including that gem the other night
Irrespective, he was a steal at Pick 3 and would anyone here seriously have preferred Andy McGrath ( who Essendon took at Pick 1) or Taranto (who GWS fell over themselves to get at Pick 2 and in the process gave us 3 which was Hugh and 17 which ended up being Berry)?
I think we laughed all the way to the bank with those Pick swaps
GWS did prefer Taranto (eh) but they also got a bunch of points out of the swap that gave us Berry which let them grab a heap of academy talent.Irrespective, he was a steal at Pick 3 and would anyone here seriously have preferred Andy McGrath ( who Essendon took at Pick 1) or Taranto (who GWS fell over themselves to get at Pick 2 and in the process gave us 3 which was Hugh and 17 which ended up being Berry)?

Ahhh - Mathematics and history combined. Love it.Well I hope 2027 to 2041 can buck the trend!!!
Incredible how many on here were willing to let he and Berry walk for academy points. One of the best goal kicking mids in the comp and IMO compliments Dunkley particularly well who is a premier two way mid in the comp but more defensively minded.https://www.afl.com.au/news/1157877

They were great but to be honest I love the defensive efforts more. The spoil of the kick-in was more special.Rayner's two goals were superb. The massive pack mark to give us the opener and his Jackie Chan part 2 which helped spark our comeback. A confident Rayner is a huge weapon.
Below average game overall. But he's been better as the season's gone on.Rayner's two goals were superb. The massive pack mark to give us the opener and his Jackie Chan part 2 which helped spark our comeback. A confident Rayner is a huge weapon.

Similarly I loved Charlies sprint with and after the ball at the end of the game more than his goals.
When those two are putting in the desperate hard yards we are such a better team
Thought Viney was worth a few moreCoaches votes:

Josh Dunkley (BL)
9
Kysaiah Pickett (MELB)

Hugh McCluggage (BL)
4
Jack Viney (MELB)
2
Dayne Zorko (BL)

Not downgrading the effort of Hugh to kick that goal under pressure but don't think I ever saw Browny or Bradshaw miss from that pocket. In a close match, votes invariably favour the winners.
If Hugh kicks that last tough shot at goal OOB and Melbourne go down the other end and score the winning goal/behind, Viney almost certainly gets 2 or 3 more votes and Hugh gets 2 or 3 less.
The reality is that Hugh basically won the match with a clutch goal for the ages.
He deserved those votes
