You just can see GC pulling an all mighty GF performance out of their ass for this one

To be fair, it's something Collingwood almost exclusively deals with on a near weekly basis

It's actually a smaller list of teams who don't give us their best when we play them

  • Port Adelaide
  • Melbourne
  • Geelong

That's about it?

Basically every other team gives us their best all the time, or most of the time. As annoying as it is, it actually makes us a better team overall and places us better come finals time

Adelaide are shit every week apart from the 2 weeks a year they play us

That’s right
And if we are good enough to absorb it will hold us in good stead later in year
Incredibly tough draw we have to come home with

You’re running out of time on this considering he’ll be in full training either this week or next and playing VFL footy within the next month. From here he’d need a setback or be nowhere near it mentally to not make it back to the top level in 2024.

I’d love to see Dan out there asap too but there’s still a proper return to play protocol to follow for ACL’s, regardless of how fit and well he feels. For instance, has the graft tendon reached full strength? Have the ends of the graft tendon properly attached themselves to the upper and lower leg bones, with all the necessary blood vessels fully functioning? Does a return to intense running and jumping at training lead to other issues arising (such as plantar fasciitis, hammy/calf strains)? The latter issues are also more likely in a heavy 30 year old than a light youngster.

Anyway, hope it all goes as fast and smoothly as possible for the big guy. He deserves some better luck.

Yep, exactly. If we get McStay back in really good condition, it would be a bonus. Everything has to go right. It's for this reason I hope freddy continues to improve and exceed expectations

Does Joe Richards come straight back in if he’s fit? Maybe as the sub? I really wanna see him again after his impressive first 3 games.
Maybe as sub.
Otherwise which forward do you take out?
We already play 4 smalls in the team as it is.

I presume that he has either or will shortly tick those boxes considering he’s now been cleared to commence full training. I get the concerns given your lived experience, but I’ve got full faith in the current HP team to not put a bloke out there until he’s 100% good to go. As an FYI today is his 29th birthday so he’s got time on his side for the 30th birthday milestone.

Their CEO, Mark Evans, is claiming Victorian clubs should play their first week of finals interstate. Just because the MCC wanted the MCG for the Grand Final until 2059. Look, I get it, but maybe Gold Coast should actually make finals first, before contending where other clubs should play theirs... :drunk:
Seems Evans has conveniently forgotten the MCG grand final contract was extended as compensation for losing a guaranteed preliminary final, thereby rightfully allowing interstate sides to play that match at their home ground.

It also counters the desire of interstate sides for more access/games at the MCG, but that desire wouldn’t suit his current rant.

I thought it was a clever misdirection tactic from Evans. He knows hell will freeze over before VIC clubs are playing home finals interstate so what he was really doing was highlighting his perception of the inequities that exist for VIC teams with the GF and northern clubs with their academies. His view would be that you can’t address one without addressing the other. Hardwick on 360 also just went out of his way to highlight their schedule heading into this match which coincidentally is the same as our lead in to the Bulldogs match…

Melbourne seem to stop playing their gf against us when they became a good side Guess that break is now over

Interestingly I hear the Lions are preparing to soon bring back Ashcroft straight into the senior side. No reserves matches to ease back in.

Thats right, but suppose tbf, he has been out since July. He is coming up to 12 months post injury. Mcstay on the otherhand, is coming up to 7 months.
