I'm just laughing at someone in a position of effective ignorance fretting over decisions being made by people with expert knowledge in the field and first-hand knowledge of the situation at hand.

...who have already made mistakes

...with the exact player I was talking about

...literally only weeks ago

Cool beans

Just so we can be clear going forward (because I tend to just ignore posters who demonstrate an inability to have reasonable conversations on a discussion forum) are you one of those people who thinks the club and its decision makers are infallible because we won a flag?

Everyone keeps naming Pendles as a likely in but the footage of him clapping one hand on his arm as Maynard was chaired off the ground last week was not a confidence inspiring sight.

They've basically confirmed he's playing

Although I do agree with what you're saying as I noticed the same thing. But to be fair, it will have been nearly 2 weeks by the time we get to the game.

I guess it's ok now

No one is infallible. Questioning decisions from a position of ignorance is, well, ignorant. You say that a mistake was made with De Goey. How could you possibly know such a thing?

I can't actually tell if you're being serious with this question so I'm going to assume you are

Because we brought him back after only a week or two from what was being described as a "groin issue" that they thought could possibly be on the track of being OP and he got hurt again?

Like...they obviously made the wrong call. It's ok to say that. No one has called for Wade or the medicos to be sacked or flipped their shit over it. Mistakes happen. It's just unfortunate this one cost us one of our best players for a month.

So all I wanted them to do back then (and now) is err on the side of caution with our best players

Your logic leaps do not actually mean a mistake was made. You know that, right?

"logic leaps"

  • Player gets injured with an injury that's normally longer than a 1-2 week injury
  • Club publicly says it could possibly be even worse than that
  • Player then comes back only a week or two later
  • Player gets injured again with a "related" injury

Man...such HUGE logic leaps

What gouki88 said. You do know that correct decisions can still lead to adverse outcomes?

What gouki88 said. You do know that correct decisions can still lead to adverse outcomes?

Yep and you also know that people can make mistakes and errors in judgement yeah?

Like, it's completely ok to admit if you think a mistake was made when the evidence seems to lean that way. We're ultimately talking about human beings. You act like Doctors have never made mistakes before.

No one was calling for Wade's job, no one was asking for the medical department to be sacked. I could understand some of these responses if that was the case, but it wasn't.

All I wanted back then and now, is for us to be cautious with our better/more important players. Particularly given that we as a club preach system system system. Then you'd think we'd back that same system to survive missing a player for one week with a view to them playing more consistently.

All I said back then (prior to the Adelaide game where he injured himself) was that it felt early to me to be bringing him back given what they had said about his injury.

Am I an expert? Clearly not. I'm only going on what they tell us and prior history with other players and similar injuries.

It just so happened that my instinct in this particular instance was correct. That's not something I take pride in. Why? Because I want De Goey out there every week. Why would I want to be right about De Goey hurting himself again? Imagine if we hadn't risked him? He would have played against Freo, he would have played against the Bulldogs. So even if we might have lost to Adelaide had he not played, there's equally a chance we win both the Freo and Dogs games had he played in those? I'd take that trade.

The logic leaps are you attributing blame to our medical staff because of these events, despite you actually having no knowledge of what happened inside the 4 walls.

At the risk of repeating myself and having you again not understand the point, you are simply not in a position to judge whether a correct decision was made or not. That you seem to devote multiple posts to this topic every week with different players might indicate an underlying issue.

But I concede I wouldn't know.

Looking forward to this one. Also looking forward to seeing some of the injured boys return in what shapes to be a cracking run into the finals to have a crack and B2B.

The best 23 will start to take shape starting with the returns of Pendles, Checkers and Jordy this week. Clearly there will be some stiff omissions but it's a good problem to have...

This week

INS: Pendlebury, Mihocek, DeGoey, Markov
OUTS: Macrae, Dean, Jiath, McInnes/Sullivan

B - Quaynor Frampton Howe
HB - Maynard Moore Noble
C - J.Daicos N.Daicos Sidebottom
HF - McCreery Kreuger DeGoey
F - Schultz Mihocek Hill
R - Cameron Crisp Pendlebury
INT - WHE Lipinski Markov Harrison McInnes/Sullivan

Let's goooooooooo

"every week" lmao

It started with De Geoy prior to the Adelaide game and went to Nick when he was subbed off after being corked in the shin...twice

But sure..."every week" lol. If starting a discussion around being cautious with injuries to good players in Round 10 counts as "every week" then yeah, not sure what to tell you.

This is my issue with trying to genuinely have discussions with some of you here. You can't just have a discussion. You have to exaggerate, or constantly bring up the past, or act like smart arses, or act condescending or snarky.

It can't ever just be that discussion being had.

I'm completely cool with disagreements. It's part of what makes a discussion forum a discussion forum. Hive minds and echo chambers f**king suck. But you can have disagreements in a "good way" and a "bad way". Too many here tend to go the latter path.

You tend to whine.

You tend to whine.

Lots of posters here have tendencies

But some people choose to see what they want to as well

There's lots of posters here who go to sarcasm and insults without a second thought too. I attempt to have discussions with those posters but it becomes incredibly difficult.

But despite tendencies, I'll still try to focus on the discussion being had rather than bringing external baggage into the discussion. Bringing the baggage in doesn't help anything

Oh my lordy.. can't wait for the footy

Jen2310 anything interesting happen at training?

Eyre is training back in defence
Howe and Frampton also in defence.
No sign of Schultz

Are you intentionally trying to be ironic?

Anyway, you're coming across as very whiny. Lighten up a bit.
