One of the reasons that Collingwood has the Aussie flag in its logo could be that their original colours were red white and blue when they were known as Britannia?? Someone may have a better grasp of the history than me??

Didn't know that. Must have been pre 1892 when they joined.

Caro on Footy Classified tonight said that the uniforms in the St Kilda-Melbourne game were "embarrassing". Said she couldn't tell which team was which and that Melbourne's home jumper doesn't clash with St Kilda.

It's embarrassing when this number should still exist.

She is wrong on that one from the back and side they are very similar Black vs Navy. They need a back that will contrast. I think an inverted jumper would probably work fine though, a white kit just doesn't work for Melbourne.

I'd also prefer teams didn't wear white shorts against us unless they matched main colour of the jumper. The contrast between a coloured jumper and white shorts tends to clash with the white centre panel on our home jumper.

Probably our worst clash this year was actually the dogs one where they wore white shorts with the royal jumper and we were wearing the crusader would have been better if they had just worn royal shorts. The Essendon game wasn't as great as it could have been as well.

Yeah they were established from that club but I don't think any history from Britannia is counted towards the Pies. They have been CFC since 1892 in the Black and White.
I think the flag is just meant to represent the biggest club in Australia and the logo was created when they celebrated their centenary. Personally I wish it was a tad simpler design.

Britannia were one of the Collingwood area clubs that were involved in the formation of a Collingwood club.
They did wear Red, White & Blue.
However, Collingwood were not formed out of Britannia and there was never any recorded discussion of anything other than Black & White being their colours.
These being based on the South Australian colours used at an Inter-Colonial carnival.
