I can understand the changes to a degree. Losing a bit of experience in Bez, Linc and Dunkley. These guys are pretty vital for us and how we setup/play.
Lyons is a no brainer for me to come in this week. As is zorko. I would have loved to of seen Kai get a game. Playing only two talls against teams with elite intercept marking such as collingwood and Melbourne can leave us seriously exposed. I have loved our more mobile forward line these last few weeks but it does worry me against the top contenders. If may/lever, allir allir or Moore get free against us we are in all sorts.
The Madden inclusion really has me stumped. I’m not sure what he will bring to the table. Will he play the harassing/pressure forward role that Linc has been doing? I don’t want to disturb our backline so hopefully he doesn’t go there.
As a whole I’m not overly thrilled by the inclusions but I can understand them to an extent. I can see why more kids were picked considering we already have three teenagers playing. I hope the inclusions justify themselves

Has it been mentioned anywhere how long Berry is out for? Only reference I've heard about him missing was from the Clugg-Rayner podcast where they mentioned he's joining the rehab group.
Did they say what the issue was on there mate? Remembering back now to last weeks game he had a fair amount of strapping on the hamstring/quad? in that game but obviously played. I wonder if he’s dealing with a bit of tightness there perhaps?

Edit. Sorry that doesn’t give a timeline for return but just trying to work out what the injury issue is.

Nah. They just mentioned him joining it when discussing the rehab group with Matho. the ins and outs page on AFL.com has it listed as a hamstring so you could be right, tightness. Just ensuring he's cherry ripe for Dees hopefully.

Fagan's hubris is on full display and he obviously hasn't read the room.

This was likely always the plan.

It's as if the guy hasn't been watching since Gunston dropped himself.
+ I can not see him being dropped for the Demons game barring him playing an absolute shocker which is highly unlikely against the Eagles.

Next week will be interesting when Robertson gets dropped for McCarthy so Gunston can stay in the side against Melbourne.

Next week will be the BIG one.

Lots of players coming in and the flow on effect of Gunston coming back in means Jaspa Fletcher or Dev Robertson is out.

Ah Bigfooty. If I ever feel like I’ve got a deficit of middle-to-late age men acting like four year olds, you’ve got me covered.

Leave Elixuh alone!

Seriously though, we are a top three team for a reason. We've had a great sample size of what we can do with a two tall forward line. The club knows what they're doing and haven't brought in slouches.

Back then in. If it doesn't go well, we've clearly seen they won't hesitate to drop underperforming players now and no doubt want experience in the team in a game where complacency could creep in.

I trust the coaches decision making and think the guys selected will do everything they can to hold their spots, and that is a bloody good thing.

Middle to late aged men ? Acting like 4 year olds ??

It's just a blog with opinions .

You got something against them ? Then add yours.

I know a few women who agree.

EAGLES
In: J.McGovern, T.Kelly

Out: S.Hurn (Injured), L.Shuey (Injured), H.Barnett (Sub)

LIONS
In: D.Zorko, J.Madden, J.Lyons, J.Gunston

Out: L.McCarthy (Suspension), J.Berry (Injured), J.Dunkley (Injured), C.Ah Chee (Injured), D.Fort (Sub)
.................................
Wings: Fletcher one wing. The other wing either Wilmot, Madden. Madden included on good recent VFL form.
Then the usual mix of wing relief from other mids.

Zorko for McCarthy
Lyons for Dunkley

Gunston for Ah Chee is the change that has upset most posters.
So, who else could they have selected as a forward from the VFL?
Lohmann is the logical one, the only other is Blake Coleman who would make his debut if selected.
Tunstill, Prior, Sharp are not forwards. Others that could play forward are injured.

For this game they chose Gunston over Lohmann and Coleman.
Being selected this week does not guarantee he gets selected next week.

Get the feeling they weren't too worried about his form for most of the season

Except for the press interviews where fagan said gunston wasn't the problem, it was the other players not bringing him into the game. So yes, gunners did not have a problem about a dozen other players did.

Personally I enjoy watching the others, but there is nothing I've enjoyed about Gunston being on the field. last few weeks have been awesome. Defensive running, running, even bouncing, great transitions leading to shots on goal. Exciting brand that makes me happy.

Yeah he shouldn't have specified age. Acting like children would have sufficed.
