I completely agree fwiw. Just think the “it’s not the coaches fault” brigade are missing rhe point, the whole joint is cooked if you miss finals from 4 at the halfway point.

The players look mentally broken or like they don't believe in the game plan. Something smells a bit off to me. Losing clubs aren't good places to be but losing clubs who had a hold on the top 4 and collapse are toxic.

Just on the last 2 losses, they can be turned around our first 1/2 against Freo looked really good mentally turned off at the break, against the Dogs we were off early but in hindsight we hit the post 3 time in the 3rd & kicked 4-5 in the last Q in total 5-10 if reversed 10-5 things look different.
But we didn’t

And the dogs had turned off

You will do anything to knock ratts. Kids have bigger runs than they should. Windhanger could have been dropped about 5 times but was played. Owens got injured and had to be dropped after round one. Ratts actually put to much faith in him. Sharman got 3 games when 2 was probably enough. Are you actually saying Byrnes should play with Ross and Clark coming back? Byrnes was only In because Ross was out. And he didn’t do anything to suggest he had to stay. Knock ratts if you want but try and pick the right target. And I’d certainly hope he is putting in the best side he can. Surely that’s ok by you gringo.
that's a good point. No one can knock him for not playing the kids. Nasiah played almost every game since his debut and being used in a non insignificant role in the structure. Windy being backed in even though most games he's getting between 5-15 touches. Owens rewarded after good form on the training track TWICE. Once in preseason and then another chance a month later shows Ratten isn't just leaving those kids rotting on the shelf. Bytel injured Byrnes has been unlucky just being on the fringe multiple weeks.

SLe Steele

Steele has been down since returning from the shoulder injury. Tackles lots but his performance as Captain has been very poor. Lacking energy, is not getting vocal enough or showing encouragement, and worse of all is getting sooky when things aren't going well.
what more do you want from him? 25-30 touches and 8+ tackles.

Did you watch the game ? His facial expressions were horrible to say the least , not to mention the arm waving BS

Its not about him getting 30 touches , its about him dragging the team with him as one

I repeat myself, but I'd rather see Long further up the ground. If everyone is down on Paton, perhaps Connolly is the go. But to be fair, West Coast have genuine tall forwards so perhaps the go is Joyce rather than another small. West Coast tend to have a clearly defined forward group - they're all rather tall or rather small. Doesn't lend itself greatly to our mix of mid-sized defenders (Wilkie, Battle, Highmore, Sharman).

I'm in the "play Hanners if fit" camp. Didn't think I would be.

McKenzie's been out so long now he probably needs a VFL run beforehand, which is disappointing - his absence entirely coincides with the drop in form.

NWM looked like the season had gotten the better of him last week, but hopefully a nine day break and the open spaces of Optus Stadium can do him some good.

I think some see things how they want to see it , not how it really is
They kicked one goal in the last term, only when they were the tiniest little bit threatened (and even that i would argue was no real threat) and still won by 5 goals.

Cue was absolutely in the rack and then Bont went "Bit sick of this momentum" and killed it. Saying otherwise is false dawning. BT was getting laughed out of the box for suggesting we might come back.

I was agreeing with the poster you know , yeah the dogs slipped the shifter into neutral and were just rolling, while we were still trying to get into second gear

do people bag his playing ability? 3 All Australians and player of the year. People bag him for his tissue paper body. But if by some miracle he's actually fit then why not play him?
Because 3 quarters in a terrible comp isn’t really the preparation for 4 hours on a plane on a big ground in a comp around 50 goals better and he will need to play more than 3 quarters. Second up is also usually an issue. Surely the perfect game is at home the following week and yes I know it could be to late then but I’m not sure he will provide any difference off his preparation.

so his performance isn't in question. I don't think we can ask him to do much more as a player. just be more vocal and positive as a captain

I think the club just needs to roll the dice. you're right Hawks is too late. Season could be over by then

You can’t really blame him. He try’s his guts out and would be absolutely fed up with the shit that some of our players dish up. I hope he absolutely gave it to them at the end of the game

if he's on minimum wage who cares. the only issue was his big contract. Him going around as an old bugger is no different to Geary in the VFL
What about our list management history makes you think we would give him minimum if he wants to play on...

I watched this game as well you can't come to that conclusion, on that performance if we are to turn it around and get a win it will start with the Eagles, at this stage they are a shadow of there previous self.

Would need Natnui to dominate & Shue,Kelly & Gaff to get 30+ & either Kennedy or Darling to kick 5 a lot of if's.
We play anywhere near we have the last two weeks - Eagles win especially in Perth
