Maybe a little early to start this thread but had a little spear time so i thought i would have a look at the games this up coming round. Here are the round 19 captain selection stats and my thoughts on the game, the Av. Means the player’s average against their opponent over his career and the scores after the forward slash are the players past 3 games against their opponent. Tried to do something different this week with the Game notes section, don’t know if that will help you all but they are just a few of my thoughts and match – ups in the games.

Melbourne VS Geelong
Venue – MCG
Player Stats,

Cameron Bruce – Av.76.7 / 83,88,106
Brad Green – Av.69.3 / 104,95,78
Jimmy Bartel – Av.90.8 / 93,123,89
Joel Corey – Av.86.9 / 91,134,104
Andrew Mackie – Av.75.9 / 97,74,117
Steve Johnson – Av.84.5 / 73,110,95

Game Notes:
Geelong should run all over Melbourne here and give them an absolute dacking, Geelong midfielders should have a day out along with the rest of the Geelong outfit. If Ablett is back I wouldn’t personally be putting him as skipper as I don’t think that the Geelong coaching staff will be really be putting a lot of game time into him and may play abit up forward abit, still wouldn’t be surprised at all if he pulled out a 100 + score here. Dunn has been in good tagging form of late and will go to Bartel I would think.

Carlton VS Port Adelaide
Venue – Telstra Dome
Player Stats,

Nick Stevens – Av.63.7 / 70,77,48
Andrew Carrazzo – Av.82.2 / 74,90,120
Heath Scotland – Av.79.4 / 73,105,121
Marc Murphy – Av.84.4 / 125,85,67
Kane Cornes – Av.86.4 / 134,104,126
Domenic Cassisi – Av.64.8 / 92,101,64

Game Notes:
You would expect Cornes to go to Judd with the playing form he is in at the moment, still Kane has a solid record against the Blues and is right up there in the captain selections this week.

Hawthorn VS Brisbane
Venue – Aurora
Player Stats,

Lance Franklin – Av.73.7 / 127,108,73
Luke Hodge – Av.82.4 / 69,131,64
Sam Mitchell – Av.96.8 / 127,109,70
Simon Black – Av.98.0 / 99,82,119
Luke Power – Av.89.0 / 108,128,86
Jonathan Brown – Av.82.8 / 29,111,26

Game Notes:
Buddy has a good record against the Lions and if he can kick straight posts massive scores, averaging 3.5 goals against the Lions. Sam Mitchell is also in good touch averaging 27 touches over the past month.

Collingwood VS St.Kilda
Venue – MCG
Player Stats,

Alan Didak – Av.55.4 / 98,68,56
Scott Pendlebury – Av.91.3 / 116,72,86
Heath Shaw – Av.77.5 / 40,104,83
Dane Swan – Av.91.5 / 114,136,68
Jason Gram – Av.89.3 / 76,103,89
Nick Riewoldt – Av.86.8 / 74,106,96
Nick Dal Santo – Av.80.5 / 116,89,99
Leigh Montagna – Av.66.5 / 90,44,100

Game Notes:
I would expect Harry O to go to Riewoldt as he should be able to go with him, but you never no with Mick. Dane Swan also has a good record against the Saints averaging 21.5 disposals against them.

Sydney VS Fremantle
Venue – SCG
Player Stats,

Ryan O’Keefe – Av.90.8 / 93,140,56
Brett Kirk – Av.70.6 / 94,117,42
Mathew Pavlich – Av.85.7 / 70,111,81

Game Notes:
Not a lot of Captain choices in this game, but ROK has been in great touch lately averaging around 30 disposals over the past 3 weeks can’t see who will line up on him from Fremantle as he covers the ground so well and had a massive tank.

Kangaroos VS Western Bulldogs
Venue – Telstra Dome
Player Stats,

Brad Johnson – Av.84.6 / 108,122,82
Daniel Cross – Av.84.8 / 92,82,89
Adam Cooney – Av.85.8 / 113,119,122
Daniel Wells – Av.63.6 / 63,82,64
Brent Harvey – Av.81.7 / 79,113,139

Game Notes:
Adam Cooney averages 22 touches and a goal against the Roos so I would expect him to have another big game this week, but he will most likely get them Rawlings tag which may lower his scores abit,

Adelaide VS Richmond
Venue – AMMI Stadium
Player Stats,

Nathan van Berlo – Av.64.3 / 72,91,30
Scott Thompson – Av.78.9 / 129,74,67
Tyson Edwards – Av.81.6 / 124,80,114
Nathan Bock – Av.58.4 / 58,93,58
Simon Goodwin – Av.90.6 / 82,110,97
Brett Deledio – Av.85.8 / 104,89,94
Joel Bowden – Av.95.6 / 87,105,167

Game Notes:
Deledio has a fairly good record against the Crows but Shirley I would expect will get the job on him after his solid game on Judd last round. If anyone kept Joel Bowden he could be abit of a roughie this week, has a great record against the Crows but he has had a role change this year playing in all different positions.

West Coast VS Essendon
Venue – Subiaco
Player Stats,

Brent Stanton – Av.78.2 / 128,84,46
David Hille – Av.78.1 / 133,67,89
Jobe Watson – Av.65.0 / 79,69,47
Andrew Embley – Av.63.1 / 101,114,87
Matt Priddis – Av.76.7 / 74,37,119
Dean Cox - Av.62.7 / 82,71,86

Game Notes:
Cox doesn’t have a great recorded against the Dons so I don’t think he will be the most solid captain choice this round.

Let me know if I forgot anyone so I can add them in.

Good Luck!

Nice Hirdy... Im just basically going to stick to Bartel this week... i have Ablett who should play, and im guessing Dunne tag Ablett and Bartel will probably go head to head... either way he will dominate. Other option is obviously Kornes and i had him captain v Carlton eariler this year, but i think Kane will hard tag Judd this time and not make the same mistake they did this year... but hey, even if he didnt, id still pick Jimmy ;)

Haha already 7 votes to Jimmy and none to everyone else. :D

Im definately going Jimmy this week. After being burnt by Roo last week, the captaincy will be only be going to either Jimmy, Corey, Cox or Kane till seasons end. Jimmy should destroy the Dees this week. As Big Tazz said, Dunn should go to Ablett. He will be a bit rusty so its a good opportunity to shut him down completely.

For some reason i can't say no to Swan because i love watching him play and i spent the big bux on him at the start...

But im leaning towards Corey atm...even though i am severely jynxed on friday nights...but Swann...

Just had a look at the poll, i assume the only people who don't have Bartel are the ones that haven't voted for him?

Could be a good round to go with someone different in an attempt to make up ground, problem is there aren't many options at all. At the momet I'm thinking maybe Richo.

Well i don't think i'll be making comments on captains this round, not after my performance last week, i don't think anyone would pay any attention :p (even though in theory, both Swan and Riewoldt were perfect captain choices).

Im thinking this might be a good round to sit tight. Geelong play Sydney in R20, a lot of people will be looking elsewhere for their captain. Choices made in that round could decide overall...

I'd think there'd have to be some pretty convincing evidence to sway anyone not to have Bartel as captain. I took the gamble with Swan instead of Jimmy last week and it backfired, can't see myself doing it again for the next four week.s

^^^
well, i can't remember anyone scoring 140+ in 3 consecutive weeks this year.

got Bartel - not captaining him.

my only chance to make ground on the leaders is to be different with Swan (who let me down also as (c) last week, i migth add )
you owe me Dane! bring home the 150+.
