Is Israel Folau playing at least?

am I the only one that found his kicking elite when he first rocked up?

seems to have regressed significantly
His kicking is fine. It's his decision making, defensive ability, lack of intensity and competitiveness that's the issue.

I wasn't happy when Pyke brought over the co-captain BS from Sydney and Duggan was picked. He's not a good enough player to be captain and he should be next on the chopping block, as his turnovers felt worse than Witho's. Did at least two kicks inside 50 straight to oppo defenders and then managed to launch a third out on the full.
Duggan is just not very good.

He's serviceable but seems to be getting asked to do more than he is capable of. I'm not sure why we seem determined to push him as a rebounding player, I think he would add more value focussing on being a reliable lock down type - which we are sorely lacking. He's quick enough and has the physicality, when he chooses to show it.

Seems like a really nice fella but he is really a disappointment as one of our few first rounders of recent times. He's really a 16-20th picked level player and somehow he's co-captain.

Duggan would be a lot better in a good team.

I still think about that 2020 season and wonder where that bloke went.

He went into midfield in first half of 2021 and when he went back into defence we weren’t any good anymore.

That 2014 draft was fairly ordinary. He's one of the more capable players from the first round.

Other than Allen out, the rest of the ins and outs are spot on.

Standards. Consequences.

I'm absolutely about to be too harsh on Duggo, but he seems like a child out there some times. For all his physicality, which I don't question, he is a bit of a weed. In the mids we need him to absorb pressure and give late hands to free up other players, and when he's up and going he's actually decent at shaking the hips and getting the hands clear, but these days it seems 90% of the time he'll just indiscriminately belt it forward. The same backhandardness goes for his GPS numbers and running - I don't doubt he does a lot of defensive coverage and works hard both ways, but so often that leaves him as the 'almost' guy who is late to a contest, or trailing the loose by 5 metres as they roll into goal. The ability to make big, impactful plays isn't beyond him, but I suspect it relies on our pretty woeful team defence coming together in a way it's unlikely to consistently for a while. Meanwhile certain kicks are his forte, but on the run & under the pump they are always a worry, and some of his turnovers by foot, especially from potentially positive, but vulnerable positions, are brutal. Which is a worry when - along with sound team defence, manic forward-half pressure and rigorous contest work - adventurous overlap movement is a feature we are looking to work towards. Lets the pressure off far too easily for a captain on that front.

Literally the first passage is the type we are missing.

ELITE ball use. Those incisive kicks are what pick apart modern defensive set ups.

Who in the current team would be a) willing to bite those kicks off and b) be able to actually execute them?

Part of Jetta’s mastery was his ability to run, evade and time the pulling of the trigger just perfectly.

The closest I get to that level of excitement from the current team (Harley aside) is watching Jones’ run and dash, you just have to hold your breath on the disposal and whether he has any clue on where he is going. Jones sticks out like a sore thumb compared to our other backs who are probably missing the Rotham to the deep pocket outlet.

There's no-one like Jets and we need one, if not two Jets in style. Ryan is a Jet around the forward zone. Hunt has signs but not consistent. Gov has the kick mostly but not the speed.
Jones has the speed, can break lines but his end result/disposal often shonky.
Maybe need to address this via draft...early days for Hough, Bazzo, Burgeil and Baker, not sure what they got. Rotham to me is a bermuda triangle, what's his upside, where is he, what has he given us, how many years?
We need a Jet!

Regarding Duggan - Is he a playmaker, does he impact the game, got speed, take the game on, break lines? Not so much, for all the years and experience he's an average impact player with average to poor disposal skills...imho.
