It wouldn’t have been an issue if the tv coverage didn’t make a big deal of it.
And mention it over and over and repeatedly showing the footage.
They went overboard getting into Harley. He's 19. So the AFL gives it's stamp of approval to the pile on for a bit of byplay with the crowd.

It was the best thing that happened all day.

I thought Fletcher's goal was the best thing that happened all day. But hey each to their own.

The beef brisket and pulled pork plates at Frankie's after the game were also excellent. Highly recommend.

Yeah each to their own.

One of the best things about footy back in the VFL days was when you were up close to the players and really gave it to the opposition bully and he laughed and gave it back to you. Then everyone laughed.

I really miss the tribalism of it all and everyone having a beer after the game. The VFA at the time was a very entertaining day out.

We all move with the times but let's not forget it's primarily a sport . I think a little latitude could be allowed for those providing entertainment and Harley certainly did that on Saturday.

I recall many moons ago when we were the Bears playing the Bombers in a preseason practice match at the Kedron oval. From behind the goals I slung a brilliant witticism at Bewick who had done something ordinary in my eyes. He was a reasonable distance away but minimal crowd so to my surprise he heard it and promptly without turning around gave me the finger from behind my back. P@#sed myself laughing as it was all just a good bit of fun.

Flipping the bird at a fan is nothing. Shane Zantuck spat at us at the Lake Oval one day back in about '79 and there wasn't any wOkE outburst on Twitter (what X was called back in the day) or heavy-handed fines from HQ.
Not even mobile phone till 1981 Mr Ripper
X was probably a strip joint in 79

If the MRO didn't charge Warner the other week for striking Omac (which was caught on camera), the MRO is not charging for that.
Yeah I know they seem to not care much. Just a personal bugbear. I hate how little they care about actual dirty illegal and non-football acts. Way too many shitty little punches and knees and elbows to the throat, etc. There is no reason all of them should be leading to suspensions and the sport would be better without them
