For many years Mr Hanieh was the only paediatric neurosurgeon in the state. Perpetually on call for emergency surgery as well as scheduled stuff. There were very few nights he hadn't done something.Mr Hanieh did my surgeries. Yes he was a very quiet man. You really had to ask him questions to get anything out of him. I’ve been seeing dr Santoreneous since Mr Hanieh retired 18 years ago but no surgery has been required since my shunt was inserted in 1999
Nah he's the token senior player.
Can leave him out of the scratchy and it won't bother his preparation. For what purpose?
Wrong again, but hey you go with it.No, he’s there to replace a late out to a group of players. Davis will replace a forward, EH a key forward or ruck, Butts a key back and Mackay what’s left over. What you’re actually suggesting is that we use one of our interchanges as a meaningless platitude which results in diminishing the team even further if he’s forced to play courtesy of a late withdrawal. His name is there because he’s next small defender and possibly mid/wingman up.
And I thought I was a wacky conspiracy theorist. Your’s on the use of our emergency list in a performance environment in the highest league in the land is way beyond even my sketchier stuff.
But it’s not really that. You’re looking at it backwards and only backwards. You’re arguments are built upon the foundation that Mackay hasn’t been selected to play. Which we are both in agreement with. You then use that as proof that being emergency is meaningless because he’s not playing. At no time have you approached it from the angle as to why they chose him in the 26. How about you forget words like ‘token’, because both you and I know that despite our misgivings on our footy culture, neither of us believe that we make token emergency selections. Especially with Mackay who has been dropped for performance twice, been travelling emergency that week and suited up in the 22 the following.
He’s there for one reason and one reason only. In the event of certain players withdrawing late, he is the guy they have chosen to replace them. There is nothing else in it, that’s the full length and breadth of the decision. Now, I can mount a further argument that he might not be next in line for next week, but it’s more of hope than experience. And until that plays out, it’s only hope on anyone’s behalf.
If you've got the time this extended footage was done by a former member of our board "Skippos" (Luke McAlister) might give you a better handle on Ben Keays' capabilities. I might add one of the absolute best recruiters in the business the Swans Kinnear Beatson bid on Keays in his draft year but Brisbane matched.....Beatson doesn't get many wrong. You'll note Keays elite running and hard at it attitude.I’m not enthused by Keays and Crocker, especially after Keays ‘highlights’ reel was posted. But they’re in now, so I want to see them for 3-4 weeks, no matter how bad they go. Get a decent look and give them a decent chance without the selection dagger hovering over their head.
What he must have seen in his time... I know I'm very lucky to be alive in no small way due to what he and the oncologists at the WCH did.For many years Mr Hanieh was the only paediatric neurosurgeon in the state. He said very little, but talked way more than I could have in his position.
"It had good preseason form and was training well"Well at least you can take some positives out of it. It put up a good first half (of the year).
My cousins a neurologist. He did 12 years of study after finishing school. He was starting to freak out in his last year. If he failed his last exam, he would’ve had to do another year of study. Apparently the exam had a pass rate of around 55% at the time.Nope, it means we share a neurosurgeon!
That motherf***er, on my day he started surgery at 8am, finished around 10pm, came to see me on the ward after I woke about 11pm, stretching his back, then returned the next morning... he did 14 hours of surgery and saw me at 8am, and I said to him "Geez after 14 hours, you're slacking off!" and he said to me, "Yeah I had a sleep in, normally I'm up at 5am"
Absolutely fu** off to the moon and back, we stan. Motherf***er saved my life and had a sandwich.

I was 17 when diagnosed by dr McCulloch. He on referred me to Hanieh as he was doing a new treatment called Third Ventriclosomy. Unfortunately this op didn’t work so Mr Hanieh then decided on a shunt which he had to replace 2 weeks later due to infection. So 3 ops in 4 weeks and in hospital for 5. I did get a visit from Andrew McLeod though so that was excitingWhat he must have seen in his time... I know I'm very lucky to be alive in no small way due to what he and the oncologists at the WCH did.
In my day the type of treatment used was experimental, my parents took a gamble and it paid off, other parents weren't willing to do the same and it didn't.
They haven't worked out brain transplants yetWith so many on hear talking about their neurosurgeons, had to do a quick check it wasn’t the Port sight,
But glad you are all still with us
would hate to make them intelligentThey haven't worked out brain transplants yet

2015 draft is interesting. Not that long ago but already there's a bunch of players who have left the game.Maybe watch this...All he needs is an opportunity.
I can promise you that is an early night for Steve!!!!!!Nope, it means we share a neurosurgeon!

The other guys need games.
Wrong again, but hey you go with it.
It’s not meh for me at all! I realise I’m very lucky to be going to the game, but I’m absolutely pumped, maybe more than normal given it’s been so long. About to head into the city for a few pre match beers and then trek into the hallowed Adelaide Oval!I'm contemplating a morning beer to try and get excited.
Who would've thought we'd ever describe a Showdown day as meh.
Didn't really unravel did it, Gibbs and Sauce stayed out of the side most of the season.Which bit is wrong. Explain yourself. I recall you this confident that I was wrong and you were right last year until it unravelled completely on you. Are you seriously suggesting if Brown is a late out that Mackay won’t be coming in? Just yes or no will do.
Didn't really unravel did it, Gibbs and Sauce stayed out of the side most of the season.
And yes I am suggesting that.
Correct. To get this right, you’re saying we selected a small defender/wingman that won’t played be used if any of Rat, Brown, Smith, Seed, Laird or Kelly misses?
