It wasnt only only just the ridiculous count, it was the fact the dogs were robbed of 4 or 5 really straight forward frees that werent called.

There was a game in i think 1993, where Fitzroy went to Adelaide to play on a friday night, and it is widely regarded as the most one sided umpired game in AFL history. I think last night may have gone past it.

in my opinion, Collingwood won because of the decisions last night. That is such a poor outcome at the top level.

If you’re going to say umpiring is a variable, our missed goals were a variable, dogs winning last night would have been extremely lucky

Id also argue poor umpiring cost us 2-3 direct goals

And they weren’t shitbag frees on the boundary 100m away from goal

Iagree, I watched again today, yes we got a couple of 50/50, but gees the ones we didn’t get were critical, Jamie taken high in the goal square, A 50 to both cox and Pendles,

The doggies went low ,

And now the umpires are playing for the cats!

Last night was 33 (Collingwood) to 14.

In 2022 there was 33 to 13 in Adelaide's favour against Richmond.

In 2013 there was North 38 to Port 15.

Yep, not just referring to the count though.

The league have already said there were 4 free kicks not paid to the dogs in the last quarter.

The main problem was the maggots not paying free kicks against Collingwood, especially in the second half.

Just look at every marking contest involving Darcy that he didn't mark. Collingwood couldn't stop him fairly so they resorted to marking interference and the maggots tolerated it. Meanwhile Membrey couldn't get into the game so the umpires make sure to give him 3 soft frees in 5 minutes.

Then look at all the holding Collingwood got away with in stoppages during the 4th quarter. The dogs were already heavily up against it but the maggots made it impossible in the end.
Charlie Curnow just rang. said to tell you to stfu

Umpiring is killing the my enjoyment of football, my club is terrible but the umpires are worse, games are becoming unwatchable at times!!

Consistantly inconsistant, miss blatatant holding the ball frees, look for deliberate out of bounds or rushed behinds just to grandstand.

And, AFL PLEASE make umpiring more easy to adjudicate, this having to go through 4 different processes through their minds before a decision is made is madness, four umpires with 4 different interpretations is laughable..

I have been involved with footy for a long time and I have never been more confused or frustrated than now, I just don't feel like I know the rules anymore.
There’s no need to have 4 out there - absolutely none - just adds another interpretation

Daicos can also apparently walk the ball out of bounds under no pressure but it’s no free kick.

I’m backing him blind for the Brownlow for the next decade. It’s amazing the protection he gets.
Daicos and Cripps have tied for the 2025 Brownlow Medal with 68* votes each.

*3-2 votes were shared in the two CollvCarl games

That 2013 game v Port is a personal fan favourite.
Stunningly bad, 10 years on.

this

is there a break down of the free kicks documented anywhere?
i was shocked when i realized we were in front on the free kick count. we had 2 in the backs paid against when dogs took huge dives, and jamie taken high in the goal square, no free, No 50 to Cox for a punch in the face, no 50 for tunneling, yes i did see a couple of soft ones, but both ways, and yes i did see a couple the dogs didnt get. thats why id like to see a list of the frees.

Not just our game, how about free kick hawthorn on thursday? 19 on the ground and the blues surging, and yet they didnt get the free and 50? \

the umps have been shit for years. the dogs were gifted 2016, we get robbed in grand finals, so ill take this no matter the salt!

go Pies!!
So, you would agree that umpires are inept and incompetent or is it dependent on the final outcome?

Can some of the highly analytical and objective neutrals in this thread provide an opinion of the Brisbane West Coast game that just finished? Or is selective outrage only reserved for Friday night close games resulting in a Collingwood win?

I mean obviously you're desperate to take heat off your own team. The diferential in the Lions and Eagles game was smaller. But that isn't what people are debating. They are debating the harsh calls that shouldn't have been (Dale), or the ones that should have been (Daicos wasting time and walking it out of bounds, Maynard legs). And how there is inconsistency and some players get away with more than others. Also outrage would be the same if it was the Saints and not the Pies.

For one you are incorrect as half the posters in here and the talk in the media references the free kick count. Secondly one deliberate discrepancy on each side that has close to zero impact on the score is a poor argument to justify the level of complaining. It’s very clear a lot of posters were emotional as they were barracking for the opposite result.

Now if you want to have a serious conversation about how umpires treat Nick I’m happy to, but let’s be real it has to start with how difficult the game is to umpire and that every ‘star’ player gets the benefit of the doubt. It happens to star mids including your own Bont and to star forwards in spades. Nick gets no extra special treatment but he certainly gets all the extra attention from the hate brigade.

The Dogs lost the game because the Pies were better. That’s what a serious look at a the game from an objective stand point should tells, based on statistics to take my skewed view out of it.

The reason why the Dogs had so many free kicks against post Q1 is because we had a lot more of the ball and were operating ant extreme levels of pressure (in q3 it was 200 to 150 hence the HTB calls). Someone literally put together a video of all Pies free kicks trying to make a point but there’s barely anything controversial in it. If you want to put together one of all the ‘missed calls’ for the Dogs I’m happy to take a look. But I guess it’s easier to cry about an AFL conspiracy.

Happy 100 year anniversary to your team and good luck with the rest of the season.

Mathew Lloyd and Jimmy Bartel scathing on the umpires on 3AW.

Can’t remember experts ever doing that.
They were bitter because they wanted a fairy tale ending and we ruined it. As another poster said there were plenty of obvious frees to the Pies which were missed but nobody has an issue with that. The hatred for Nick and Coxy is disgusting but also comforting as it tells me we are feared. We hate what we fear.

whenever the Pies have a rough night with the umps its comedy material in here. When it swings our way its the end of the world and its not e Dogs fans who are the biggest hypocrites.

No they told the truth that's all.

The fact they actually spoke out shows how bad it was.

Every time Collingwood wins a game it’s because of the umpires and every thread it’s all the ‘neutrals’ agree…

When Collingwood plays there are Collingwood supporters and people who want us to lose, no such thing as neutrals.

What I do find interesting is a lot of West Coast supporters hate Collingwood, not sure why as they’re irrelevant to us but good on them having someone else to hate.

This is so innacurate and really not a reflection at all on Bigfooty. Get your bonkers blinkers off... Oh wait, they're welded on. Carry on.

Every club says the same though. I get texts after we get one free kick saying it’s a gift.

I can’t honestly remember commentators and media condemning umpiring in unison like this though.

funny how supporters are willing to dissect the umpires at every opportunity rather than dissect there own teams performance and decisions, umpiring will never be true and fair as just about every rule is open to interpretation of how that umpire sees it, no different to the average fan sitting at home.
did you agree with the bailey insufficient attempt call (which led to a goal in a 6 point game) and by comparison the daicos non-call?

Just a simple side by side comparison for your comment.

And I think youll find most dogs supporters are very happy with our performance. Not really a lot for us to be sad about. Many of us, and many neutrals clearly, do see the umpiring as being particularly poor, and unfortunately decisive in the context of this game where you guys couldnt seem to kick straight. in a fairly adjudicated game we would have stolen it.
