We're now 3% above them. Our run home is harder than theirs, so you'd expect us to lose by more to those 3 teams.

It's still quite likely.

I don't know why that makes you flat ... we had a huge win.
Carlton also have a game against Melbourne........ Wouldn't take much for the Melbourne of the last 10 years to turn up and get beaten by the Blues. At the very least you would imagine Blues percentage won't be hurt too much against them

Can't find lionshine's post on Redden, but I agree it was Reedden's best game for the year. Watching the game Ithought he was becoming comfortable in an outside role. Then I saw in the stats he had 10 clearance. A balanced inside outside performance. I regret I couldn't fit him in my top 5.

Interesting game from McStay. Not sure what his role was, just seems to be a roaming talented cult, doing the extrodinary every so often. I agree with others that he isn't a lock down defender, maybe a massive winger? Could we possibly see McStay on one wing and Paps on the other?

Like many others, Mayes game was a tremendous relief. The skill is still there. Growing in confidence and leadership

So good to see the emotional reaction of the players to a win.

I explained in my post why. Perhaps you should re-read my post for clarification. I am happy and proud that we won, even if Carlton looked to barely be trying. But - it is symbolic of our season, I have desperately wanted us to win the 10 weeks, but the one game where it can directly, play a large role in whether or not we schache - we win. I enjoyed the win, I felt flat watching as part of me felt it was a guilty pleasure. You don't feel the same way mate, but that's ok though. If you want to over simplify my post, and question why someone "would be flat after a huge win" that's all sweet, but if you can't see why I Might feel a bit flat about that, given the fact schache could be our next j. Brown.. you have your head in the sand or just simply get off on offering a argument for literally every post I make, because it's your past time.

Mitch giving his all as usual, Redden finds some form, Mayes finds his spot, but do we now miss out on Shache?

Fingers crossed we can have our cake and eat it too, maybe Carlton will go the key defender and leave us our man.

Do we need Schache? Between Freeman, McStay, Close are we not developing a gun young forward line? Plus Mayes and Green. Bundy.
AND we've still got people like McGuane, Paine, West on the list. All of whom provide some upside. I don't think things are that dire. Our forwards are young and developing, I'm not sure why we'd hang our hat on draft picks.

What made me flat was the second half. I thought at half-time that it was going to be a bit of a shootout all game, but Carlton just didn't really turn up again for the rest of the game except for a brief flash in red-time in the third quarter. A part of me wanted to feel like we finally clicked and were just doing all the right things on the field even if our skills weren't always great but it felt like Carlton just switched off, went full tank and didn't give a shit.

At the same time, it's funny how easy two way running becomes when you have confidence your inside mids can win the ball against even numbers or even when they are outnumbered and get it to the outside cleanly. Our outside players were making space and getting rewarded, and then because they had a spring in their step they it was easy to run back and cover defensive space, or fall into position because it felt like we were going to win the ball again and they would likely get rewarded too.

That's where you see a young side starting to mature at the same time because they start to see that if they do follow instructions to the letter the rewards come, and hopefully it makes it a little bit easier the next time things aren't going completely our way in a game to stave off the panic that sees us crowd the contest and run back slowly with our heads dropped when we lose the ball.

yes we need him. unless we get dixon but would still be huge to get him.

What worries me about Schache is his mobility. We need a Tom Lynch (Suns) type key forward who runs all day allowing Freeman to play deeper and McStay to be a third tall/swingman.

But beggars can't be choosers.

When me and karix were sledging Murphy from the sideline a couple of Carlton supporters near us almost had a tearey tanty about it. It actually made me feel a little bit bad when they were welling up while trying to defend him in a half-arsed manner.

It must suck wanting to believe in the captain of your club when he is such a pea-hearted squib.

Schache runs 14.1 beep test already, he has got plenty of endurance so don't worry about that. Question marks have more been around whether he can get separation.

McStay is also one of our fittest and he was a lazy forward but it's a lot different running 20km during a footy game and during practice.

Fair point about McStay but from what I have seen of Schache he genuinely seems to want to run i.e. exhaust his opponent over the course of a game. Put it this way, every kid has their deficiencies but he is rated a top 2 pick for a reason!

If we'd won a game earlier in the season and lost last night we'd still be in the same position...

Is it lost on some that given our run across the last 3 weeks we can and are in fact likely to finish last on percentage anyway?
yep, away games to Crows and Hawks don't tend to do much for you percentage! Doggies may well towel us up too!

Likely - I don't think so.

If Carlton can lose to us by 10 goals their gonna get smashed by more than us in the last 3 games.
