Bench has to be: Scrimshaw, Mackenzie, Ryan and MacDonald.

I'm unsure on the sub.

Maybe Ward can play a full game on the wing, playing Amon's role and Mackenzie can spend extra time in the midfield. Hopefully MacDonald gets a chance to spend a little bit of time in the midfield too.

So why did we trade him in

Are Kosi, Morrison and Stephens contracted for next season, if not there gonski
We traded him in, in the hope he would add to the midfield. Like a lot of blokes running around at Box Hill, he hasn’t had much of a look in, due to our remarkable injury free run at Hawthorn.

Would be disappointed if MacKenzie adds to his total of being the sub, surely he is in the 22

People saying stephens is in trouble haven’t been watching him play. He’s been asked to develop a second role and of late is doing it really well. He’s a good inside ball winner with good evasion and his HF work has improved a lot. he’s best 22 next year for mine especially with that learned flexibility and having players like Day Newk Moore CMac Ward who can also play in different positions.

Very unlikely he’s best 22 next year

I think he has deserved a game by now, I’m just concern he hasn’t

When we will start managing players and getting some games into our youngsters Serong, BMac and Hustwaite who have played well for BH recently and players like Long and Stephens to see what they can do at senior level

I don't see it. Who exactly is dropping out of the side?

He's not better or more talented than Mackenzie, Ward or MacDonald, and he is well behind Worpel and Nash. Ward and Newcombe are probably the first two picked.

These are the players he's most likely vying with for a spot, and currently MacDonald is getting no midfield time, whilst Mackenzie (when he is playing) and Ward are only getting a few CBA's a game. There's just no room unless a key midfielder is moved on.

I’d be disappointed if he added to his games tally this year, another senior game and he’ll be disqualified for BH. Cam needs time as the main man in the centre not bit parts in the seniors. It’s his first year, had a good taste and performed ok. He needs time to develop and another 8-10 games for BH will do him good.

How is wingard still in the side? First time since he's been at the hawks where he hasn't done a calf/hammy after a good game. Surely smoke and mirrors and he's out

I'll pay that.

Have to give Wingard credit, where it's due. He's been pretty damn good the last 3 weeks, albeit he couldn't touch the ball in the 2nd half vs the Tigers. He's been in close to his best form since arriving at Hawthorn.

Has the lack of a contract strengthened those calves into steel? If so, give him one year and an incentive based contract. Wingard on fire is a great thing.

We have had a great run of injuries and I think the thing is we really need is a best 30, there will be years where that luck ain’t there. I’m positive some of those guys like Stephan’s will come on next year. Can’t wait to see who grabs their chance.

We have had essentially no injuries amd have not been quick to bring in those mids for reasons I am not clear on. I would want to see Stephens in before Morrison and Bramble. You may be right but I see great upside and we have other holes to fill that our dual position mids can help with. Worpel and Nash whilst having great seasons don’t offer that flexibility. one of them will become at risk too as our mids from the last 2 drafts develop.

I do think that was a strange trade. Especially when we drafted Hustwaite who looks like a similar type straight after. I can only think that Sam and MM were hedging their bets re Worpel and Nash improving as much as they have? But if Mitchell (plus $200k), OHenry and Stephens were part of the same trade merry go round, it is hard to see us as the winner of that little dance!

Re Kosi being gonski, it may be the case but on the other hand Ryan has a six month contract (I think) so they have to play him and see what he offers. Pointless recruiting him in otherwise. If he does well, Kosi may well be done for. If not, Kosi might hang on. Kosi has played some decent games in among some non-events and that fact alone puts him number two on our list of key forwards, damning as that might be for the current state of our list!

How could you possibly be disappointed with our first round pick getting games and exposure at AFL level?

Being “the main man at Box Hill” does nothing for him, he needs to build confidence, cohesion and connection with the AFL side so that he goes into the summer with belief that he can hit the ground running in 2024 from Round 1.

100%. Should've been the last 3 weeks.

A talent like Frenchies, should be in the one's full stop. How good is it to see him running around at his age with his skills? He will be a Sammy prodigy all being well.

I do trust the match selections and education; however, you do not see many other clubs holding back their first picks in recent years.

In Mitch I trust btw.

I like seeing him have a balanced year. Half seniors exposure half full time mid at box hill. Both will be important to fast track his development in craft and getting the pace of the game. He’s a long term piece rotating inside and out of our midfield. Also another preseason to build his strength will be invaluable. Great first year from he and weddle and nice signs
From the other picks. Shaping as a really good draft.

Cam getting a rising Star nomination in the last 5 weeks > games at box hill.

Cooper isn't an ageing mid who's looking for one last gasp in afl club. We will have injuries or players who struggle for form in coming seasons when we're challenging for top 8! Bide his time and play well enough and he'll get his chances .

I think people are forgetting Cooper's first real season without injury was last year and then this year copped a bit with concussion. He's coming along nice, only 22 and showing an ability to play forward at Box Hill.

He's just been seriously unlucky that our midfield has been performing fantastically this year.
