Game Day Round 23 v Hawthorn MCG Sunday August 18th 3.20pm

Second last game of the season against a red hot Hawthorn side who can effectively secure their finals spot with a win, while we've got little more than pride to play for.

It will be interesting to see if we throw Balta forward again with Blight forcing his way back into the line up with strong VFL form or if Yze has decided that Balta is a defender regardless and wants to take a look at the structure with all 3 of Balta, Blight & Miller playing in the back half.

Glad that we've reverted back to having Hugo and Banks on the wings as their run and carry will be very important in 2025 and both have started to show some good signs in the 2nd half of this season as they have been given more game time in the role.

Honestly if we can get within 10 goals of Hawthorn I'll be amazed after they destroyed Carlton last week by 12 goals.

As much as I hate losing, a loss today is the best thing. It means it makes it harder for Carlton and Pies to play finals. Fingers crossed.

I will be silently clapping West Coast on today while partner watches his Blues finals chances disappear. I’ll feign shock when they lose and silently cheer their loss. Hate that team as much as I hate the Pies.
