Round 3 Trades

I like to save money where possible and means I'll have all 3 of Oliver, Parish and Mills.

Seems like a bit of overkill, especially when Gresham was a high scorer before the AFL.
Oliver, Parish and Mills are the 3 mid rookies with the best JS and they're all playing fantasy-friendly roles. If I was you those are the 3 I'd hold.

option1... Howe -> Papley and lose my DP link with Tipungwuti/Adams/Brown
option2... Howe -> Hartley next week and keep my DP links

thoughts ?

Option 2, because i would give another week to Howe and Hartley, both only 1 game in so not on the bubble yet.

Any other way you can get in Papley? Or do you really need him?

I'm lucky I still had a bit of cash in the bank. This week I was able to swap Barlow with Kerridge. Then I downgraded Barlow to Zaharakis and upgraded Harwood to Laird.

Would Oliver have that good JS? It looks like to me he fades out towards the end of games which says the fitness base is not there.

You are right about Mills and Parish. They are both locks for their respective teams at the moment.

How did you not start with Kerridge is beyond me...

No he is saying he swapped Kerridge into the fwds for Barlow with some DPP action

He faded about 10 minutes into the 1st quarter last week

Yep what everyone else said. Taking advantage of the DP option.

Oh why did I buy in to the Harwood hype. At least my backline now reads Shaw, Houli, Johan, Laird, Lonergan & Adams

i was already committed to Rockliff -> Parish so Papley might have to slide through to the keeper
Ruggles has been promoted from the rookie list and is a better alternative to Hartley imo (if he plays) so i'll go with option2
hopefully Howe comes good (apparently he attended 10 center bounces vs WCE)

So, I'm completely stuck on trades this week.

I've got critical issues with 3 players - Rockliff, Steele & Macaffer. I want to get Parish into my midfield as a downgrade. I also need to trade Rocky this week.

I'm thinking the best option this week is to trade Macaffer, instead of Steele, as if I traded Steele to Parish I'd be losing my mid/fwd link to do it. It's better for balance.

Macaffer > Parish.

That trade leaves me with a massive 13,400 left

This is where I need help. I've come up with 3 rookies in the midfield + rocky, so I want to replace Rocky with another premium midfielder. and I'd like to know which one you think is best.

Option 1

Rocky > T Mitchell

Leaves me with 2k

Option 2

Rocky > Ablett

Leaves me with 73k

- Probably my preferred option as I'm currently fielding 3 options in the midfield and I have a lack of premium midfielders having opted for midfielders in Viney and Hunter

Option 3

Rocky > Johannisen via Rosa into mids.

Leaves me with 173k

- Creates a potential future DEF - MID link for my team and frees up a lot of cash, meaning I have a link between FWD - MID, DEF - FWD & MID - DEF

Any thoughts? Definitely struggling a bit with this one. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

I've attached a screenshot of my team after the Macaffer trade. I also have Robinson and Rosa riding the pine, but I'm committed to holding them

Quite the conundrum.

All are viable options. (1) and (2) are really a toss up as to who you think will do better over the next 5 or 6 games, as you should be aiming to end up with both. Price changes also come into it - I think Tom Mitchell's breakeven is lower than GAJ's. While option (3) gives you neither of these gun mids, it does give you cash and a point of difference (at least for a little while) in JJ. That cash may prove crucial given the donuts riding your bench.

It it were me, I'd bring in T Mitchell.

I'd go Titch, he looks like he could become unreachable over the next few weeks.

Define 'unreachable'.

Only if you haven't planned properly to have enough cash for any contingency.

How much cash you got in the kitty?

Sometimes the decisions are made for us when rookies under perform/get injured and the must have premo mid smashes the first 10 rounds with a 130+ avg, are you expecting your rookies to have made enough cash by round 5 or 6 to reach him at 650k? What about 700k by round 10?

Of course this is all theoretical and Horse could change his role again, that's why he 'looks like' he could be unreachable.

Depend on trades, max of 390k floor of about 310-320k

So essentially you're downgrading now to catch him slightly earlier than everyone else would like to, assuming he's on your radar at all, but I have a feeling this is a forced Rocky trade ;).

Why not jump on before any price rises? I'm assuming you don't want to miss Parish...
