That doesn't seem to happen much any more does it. Give a few games to someone who's playing well in the twos.

My personal view which will probably be shot down is that Tommy Berry would've been a big help out there tonight.
I'm fearful that Tom Berry will end up being the next Keays. Dominates as a mid in the 2s. Played in the forwards in the 1s and then act surprised when he doesn't perform.

Selwood, Guthrie, Menegola, Stewart, Rohan are definitely best 22 and are all very good players and are absolutely huge outs. Higgins, Rat, and Ceglar are borderline. Cats have amazing depth.

Both Guthries played tonight.

One Guthrie played tonight and the other came on late as the sub? Menegola hasn't been as good as he was a couple years ago and Rohan goes missing at the best of times, would've been invisible tonight.

Re Lugga: Not terrible. But some of his defensive efforts are poor. Everything went wrong for him tonight. As a former winger, he runs out of puff pretty quickly during games. Unless it’s just his lack of speed that’s the problem?

Usually good with ball in hand though. Ignoring tonight’s offensive efforts because he’s entitled to a bad disposal night from time to time - he’s only human.

His defensive efforts are awful, weak as piss in tackles. He covers a lot of ground but he has nothign in the tank around stoppages. Opposition just bounce off him.
I just think that’s wrong, so far this season he’s looked like one of our stronger players with ball in hand and also without it.

Guthrie played. So you’re down to 4. Size Matters but so do numbers.

Calling all of those ‘absolutely huge outs’ is also a stretch.

Bailey had a game high 28 pressure acts, yet only stuck one tackle. Needs to learn to tackle bigger bodies.
Yeah to me it’s the tackles we stick but still let them get a handball out. Sometimes when they are lying down. No killer instinct. We need to channel what we did to Martin v the tiges one year in which we just grabbed is fend off arm and bury the players.

Whole team could do with a crash course on tackling tbh. Not just based on tonight.

Honestly, it would be a hard time being an AFL player. Complete the tackle and risk hurting the opposition and copping a week. Elect to bump and risk copping a week. Tackle so you're holding a player and risk them getting a handball out. Probably the hardest time in AFL history to tackle.

The boys had an off night, but we will bounce back. Too many passages where we couldn’t get out of our own way. Just never seemed to get out of second gear. The ball didn’t bounce our way at key moments

McStay was great - strong marking display from him.

Daniher and McStay were excellent tonight. Rich, Starcevich Ah Chee all good. Charlie had his moments.

Likewise Adams and Andrews.

So it's obvious where we lost it.

Had a lot of fumbly mistakes from our smalls and very poor execution when we were going forward with lots of space to the fat side. Basic skill errors and lack of awareness.

Tommy could be better than Keays.

Mark it down. He just goes and goes and would thrive in a good team.

IMO.
agree just needs to clean up some of his disposals and in time he would perform in a good team. A BF poster has him in danger of being delisted this year (I disagree), but I do think it is possible that he leaves so seek an opportunity.

Add into that the player with the ball can just fumble it out and it’s play on.

We need to start playing him now. If we learnt anything at all from Keays.
