without getting into the list management aspect etc. And how old Geelong is. I do think if we had Chris Scott in our coaches box making tactical decisions we would have won a premiership. For as much as everyone hangs shit on him I think Scott is a great match day coach.
It’s for this reason I’m excited to see what Mitchell does at the Hawks. The man is a supreme match day coach.

For everything Fort copped on the game day thread I thought he stuck at it and had some good moments as the game wore on.

Obviously we missed Oscar.

I was really disappointed in Fullarton tonight . He got into good position so many times and just coughed it up.

I suppose we don't bury him on that because I've seen him play a lot better but Hmmmmm.

I think he'd surprise you. Can run out games and could handle a few centre bounce attendances a quarter. He did so in the pre season and ran out the game fine. Either we don't have faith in his body handling the rigors or we want him to build consistency as a forward before we invest in more time there.
I'm not convinced on him but still prepared to keep persisting because he does have the ability at least.

He was one of the first guys who popped into my head. Even as a player you could see he was a genius at seeing the game.
edit to add: that’s where my worry is about Fages. I think he is great at so many things but match day seems to be a weakness of his compared to some other coaches.

One change next week. Fullarton out, Oscar in. Played rubbish tonight, far below our best. We lost by 10 points at one of the toughest grounds in footy. Is what it is. Don't panic, can't win every week.

Agree on suggestions of Cockatoo and Rayner to go back to the 2nds. Play them midfield minutes and give them 2 or 3 weeks in there. If they don't dominate then so be it. Can't keep gifting games to potentials. We have to pay the good form of those who are playing well in the seconds.
That doesn't seem to happen much any more does it. Give a few games to someone who's playing well in the twos.

My personal view which will probably be shot down is that Tommy Berry would've been a big help out there tonight.

The six?

Selwood yes, although not exactly at the peak of his powers.

Stewart obviously yes

Ratugolea cats fans were thrilled he didn’t play. Gets dropped each season as well.

Ceglar i guess although has never played s game for them. Are you having him AND Ratugolea in the team?

Menegola - yep.

Rohan borderline these days

They were missing 4 of clear cut best side.

We were missing 2, arguably 3.

Not majorly lopsided.

Disappointed with how we played but Cats were not far off full strength.
Selwood, Guthrie, Menegola, Stewart, Rohan are definitely best 22 and are all very good players and are absolutely huge outs. Higgins, Rat, and Ceglar are borderline. Cats have amazing depth.

Of course I am - I tried to register 3KZ is Football and it wouldn’t let me. Here, I’ll prove it. We need Ryan Lester in the seniors ASAP!

What’s your thoughts on McStay’s goal kicking?

I would like Dev and maybe Matho in the team. Even give Ely a game. No use discussing as Fagan will just keep picking his favourites. It's my big frustration with him.
The favs: will all play back at the GABBA next week, and play well against a middle range team and then play well against the Suns the following week, and all will be forgotten. We are a top 4 team, especially with a good %, just not sure if we make the big dance this year, but only early days and Hippy to come back.

I didn’t say anything. Is someone pretending to be me? I am Spartacus!
Oh dear.

Final test: should we pick up James Hawksley as a midseason draftee?

bit sad about that. Tom Fullarton got his card marked tonight.

The good: Fort, McStay, Neale, Adams, Andrews.

The bad: Fullarton, No forward pressure from Charlie, Cocky, etc.

Changes, out: Rayner(rested), Cocky, Fullarton.

In Oscar, Tom Berry, McFadyen.

Our biggest problem is in big games our forward line goes missing.

Not good enough. They were there for the taking with Stewart and Selwood out. Poor from the midfield group and our smalls went missing for large parts. Serious question marks on our midfield for mine. Would like to see some more accountability for average performances. T. Berry, Dev should be given a crack. They bust their backside defensively and that’s what we need. Too many players go in and out of the game for us. Good start to the season results wise but performances have been pretty shoddy tbh. Exception being last week. Special shout out to mcstay and Daniher who were excellent tonight. Stood up big time.
I know Tommy Berry runs both ways and I'm prepared to accept your view that Dev does. Ben Keays is one of the best both ways midfielders in the game.

And it was evident tonight when Geelong went forward that we didn't have anyone from the M/F getting back near enough. Cockatoo and Rayner would have no hope. JL doesn't do it much. Neale is exhausted enough from doing everything else.

So that's an area we need to address ASAP.
