Rayner, Cameron, McInerney & Joe superb. Andrews possibly our best over the season so far. When Ashcroft fumbled a ball in the last quarter, the 5 Lions supporters watching with me in WA looked around in complete surprise.

Wilmot‘s a keeper, while it might be a long season for Starce, Linc (Who was a bit better tonight) and Bailey.

Over the last 2 games, I thought Gunston’s looked like he’d finish midfield in an over 55’s footrace and agility test. Footy IQ clearly matters.

Would add - the clear instruction from the coaching staff to defend on the front foot and push up against the pies in transition worked. No point in us to trying to stay back and run with them because they are faster and better in that element. Led directly to at least a couple of goals from turnovers we caused.
You are not suggesting that our coaching staff have plans and stuff are you? ;)

Loved Joe getting involved in stuff that was team based.
Loved Cam's night out.
Loved Wilmot not giving up when he made a mistake and on the third try iirc got it forward.
Loved how we didn't lose our bundle when the inconsistent interpretations of the rules were applied amazingly enough in our direction.
Loved the pressure and the energy.
Loved how BT finally shut up but wished it hadn't taken so long.

Oh yeah loved Hipwood kicking goals and keeping me alive in the comp

Might be going one out here but I reckon it wouldn't hurt to give Wilmot the week off. It's a long season & he's still young. No need to travel to SA
I think the complete opposite, he's just starting to assert himself on the wing. He always seems to pop up at the right time whether it's pushing back to help in defence, providing an extra number at the contest or gut run in attack and provide an option. He stays in the team for mine

Let me just say, absolutely great by the club with the send off for Mitch tonight, hopefully that settles his animosity with how things ended last year.
Love you Mitch, great servant of the club!

As long as we bring energy and intensity every game we will be fine.
We played the pies very well. The coaches definitely did their homework. I’m just not sure who Rich comes back in for at the moment.
He didn’t do a lot but I thought Joyce was solid again tonight. The free against him was very soft.

Plenty of praise on here for all the guys that deserve it. Hippy was also good - jumping at the ball and making a contest.
…he could do with some ruck coaching though!
No doubt the ball was coming in better, but getting Joe in the ruck created space in the forward line.

I wonder how much impact the lights going out against Melbourne had on the mental side of things going into the game against the Dogs. It turned a big powerful win against another contender into a scrap to save it. That bit of doubt could be the 2% that made the difference.

Who do we worry about ?

I don't think Joyce is going to make it in a full strength team , but a solid substitute.

McCarthy seems to have lost a yard to me. He did contribute but just out of form.

McCluggage played like he had stomach cramps. He's got a few mulligans in the bank.

Prior tries hard. He doesn't quite have enough pace to be a threat to anybody but he's a young player and once again handy back up.

Coleman still looks off the pace . Low on confidence at the moment.

Zorks had a quiet one but still some good moments

Bailey is out of form but still set up 3 goals and he could get better any time.

On the plus side McKenna is just a gun and gives us the set up down back we were always lacking.

Ashcroft is silk. So composed under pressure. Every time he gets near it I'm in my happy place.

Wilmot is exciting. 2nd efforts are fantastic. Sure he messes up sometimes but never drops his head.

Need to bring that level of intensity to all games, the standard has been set now.

1- Our pressure was exceptional, lost count of the 1%s where we got a hand/finger tip in and disrupted their attempted handball chain.
2- Best game Joe Daniher has played for us, his desire for the contest was great.
3- Rayner is a forward/mid, he is too valuable an asset to be sat in the backline.
4- Charlie fantastic with 6 goals but loved his defensive pressure as well.
5- Really liked Jack Payne's game, Joyce pretty good as well.
6- Clugga while not back to his best showed a couple glimpses that it is coming.
7- Ashcroft as clean as a whistle at ground level.

David King said something like - I can't see anybody stopping this Collingwood side the way they are going.. this week.... LOL that prediction lasted less than a week.

Feels so good to have a win first game of Easter weekend, can now sit back and enjoy the rest of the round as well as watch the replay a couple of times.

Llllllllllliiiiiiiioooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnssssssssss!

and this is where you should have stopped listening :roflv1:

Favourite moment of the game. Pies are "still in it" according to BT and the oh-so-glorious Nick Daicos has a chance to send them forward with a contested ground ball get. Unfortunately for Nick, he hears the footsteps of Big Willy Wilmot coming towards him and he shirks the contest

This moment was just as good though. Daicos shirks another contest, and look who comes up with it. Ended in a goal from memory too.

Not afraid of a bit of bodywork is young Will. One of the few shining moments last week was when he firmed a bump and just broke free from the contest. He's going to be a star!

Keep rayner up forward he can then play the gunston down back role if needed.

Keep playing hughy but he looks god awful at the moment. It’ll turn for him.

Thought prior was good.
