I'm struggling to understand which Coll players are the difference between finals or not. Bonnici and Davey out, but they have played this year. Is it the lack of Barnett's 6 disposals a game that's hurting them?

Davey didn't play the 1st game, which she would've dominated on a small ground. Collingwood were also winning on Tuesday night until she got her head bashed in.

So it's Davey missing the 1st round? Coming off ankle surgery she wouldn't have made a difference to the end result vs Swans. WC won by 17 with 11 shots to 4. Again Davey being around would have eaten into the margin but they still would have lost.

I do get my 6 possession players mixed up at times but they're inconsequential anyway so I won't stress about it.

Accurate kicking alone would've made a difference, with it being 15 scoring shots to 10 in Collingwood's favour. And that is what Bri Davey added last year in three wins (including a close one vs Brisbane), while not being at her League B&F level.

So I'll stick to my guns there, despite your very compelling argument.

Yeah it was 7 shots to 1 after Davey went off. Not even slightly controversial to say that was the turning point of the match.

Hasn't averaged 6 or less since 2019. I don't think Collingwood are so strong that they can afford to go long without 14 touches per game from one of their (and the league's) most skilful players.

• Collingwood's 5th home game vs WB (not even including S7's EF)--haven't been away to the Dogs since 2017
• Sydney hosting the Giants again--makes it 3 from 3
• Essendon playing Adelaide in SA--2nd year in a row
• Brisbane making the longest standard trip in footy, off a 4 day break--1st time they've played WC since Feb 2022, which was also in Perth

Not to mention Geelong had a 4th meeting with the GC yesterday, all of which have been in Queensland. Hawthorn played at Moorabbin yesterday for the 2nd year in a row. Port played NM in Vic on Friday for the 2nd year in a row. And oh yeah Richmond played another home game against Carlton at Ikon Park on Thursday.

The fixturing is chaotic at best. Richmond seem to have the soft Sydney draw of last year. Play North and their next toughest opponent is...Hawks? Granted Sydney played their best game vs Gold Coast but it just goes to show how an imbalanced fixturing leads to an imbalanced end result.

I wouldn't have Richmond as the comparison. GWS are the only team to not get 2+ preliminary finalists from the previous year. That's the ride Sydney got in 2023.

The diff'rence in the Fencin' for Henson so far is defence 'n effort in the back half.

Swans have been strong and desperate. Giants soft and slow a few notable times, main culprit being Jasmine Grierson, whose non-improvement in 7.5 years is bordering on the absurd.

Can't actually detect a breeze to the left of screen at Henson Park, other than the play suggesting it. But GWS were perhaps even more wasteful in that quarter than the Swans were in the previous.

She's been our best player this season which is the reason why we suck so much.

Frederick was absolutely terrible for a few years as a key forward, but she's been very good as a bulky ruck who knows her limitations. Been very good this year albeit not today.

Problem with Frederick is her lack of mobility. She's symbolic of someone who dominated in the first couple of seasons, but as the standard on the comp improved and mobility became key, she either isn't able or not willing to improve her fitness and mobility. She was better last year (albeit off an extraordinary low bar). I don't know how she has gotten away with it for as long as she has.
