As usual

Should be Brownlow favorite
Lester is ultra-reliable in defence.

I think you are delusional though if you think he should be Brownlow favourite.

Playing Gardiner up forward still feels trying to fit him in the team somewhere. Maybe the plan will be to play him in a defensive role on Lever or May next week.
They could do that role just have to work out which one or which one in his vicinity.

I thought Gardiner was fine. However next week we will see what pressure he can apply forward.
Just needs to not be out marked and stop rebounds from defense.
Gardiner was going alright forward in the Carlon game, Once Kiddy went down, he was moved.
Subbed off in the 2nd game with an injury, i think.
Missed the Pies match but played in the VFL i think.
Back for the north encounter and did okay.
Though they may have played Morris v North but decided he needs more time.
His next possible appearance is likely the Suns at the Gabba if he holds form.

Lohmann did well today. He's got the capacity to cover a bit of ground as a small forward.

Cam doesn't have the tank or the consistent smarts to play M/F imo for all that we are willing he could. As for flying for the specs from the back the opposition sweep it away every time when he should be crumbing.
You are the one who thinks he should be Brownlow favourite.

I’d be happy to see him play 200 games. He really deserves that milestone.
#Lester200
#LesterArmy
#FrogMarch

PS. Ideally, down the track, we could draft his son Romeo Lester as a Father/Son pick and then we would have the #LesterDynasty
How's a bloke going to play footy with a name like Romeo.

I hope he's tough.

Absolutely spot on regarding Rayner.

The coaches seem to love that lead up tall forward role and for whatever reason they have decided Rayner can’t do it. I don’t mind Dizzy up there, will always give a contest at the very least.
So Rayner can’t be relied upon to play the third “tall” forward role and he will never be a midfielder … it does beg a fairly obvious question.

We all want him to be a great player. We need to find ways that he can have a big physical impact . He's built like a tank . He's not Petracca but he has the physical characteristics to do similar things if he was focused on one role.
Dare I say, “Looks like Petracca, plays like Rayner?”

Lohmann went past him in his 11th game up forward today.

Today Rayner attended 9 Centre Bounces and had a ZERO clearance game. He had 4 contested possessions from his game total of 14 disposals and managed a single tackle, which came in the last quarter. All this against North Melbourne. Soft.

That's true. Well Petracca is one of the best players in the game the last few years so I don't expect that sort of output. But he should be able to provide similar impact sometimes.

Next week is shaping up as a big game for us.

I don't think Melbourne are insurmountable by any means but maybe playing their best footy for a while . We'll give it a shake if we bring our best.

I’ll be there cheering!

I'm not convinced but it would be great if it were so.

I think he's been schooled and knows he's not much of a kick so hasn't been doing anything silly.

Of course they all cough it up at times don't they.
Especially when kicking down the straight wing. Wtf was that.

Are you flying down for the Melbourne game? I imagine after our win today all available flights from QLD will be fully booked. Happy days are here again! We are back baby!
I can't make the Melbourne game but I've booked my flights for the Grand Final. I can't see how we'll lose a game from here on.

I thought payne could have been thrown forward for the last Q with Dizzy back. I think Payne’s athleticism could cause some issues in later games, but only if Fages insists on 3 talls, or does not play Cam as 3rd tall (which I have been stating for a year) but yes thought Dizzy was OK, next fortnight will be a better guide.

I agree with you that in a few weeks Morris may get a debut, if he maintains his form. Also great to see Kai play so well.

Unfortunately for payne (but best for the team structure), he has inherited the Adams lock down role, and today one of our least experienced backs takes on an AA forward, whilst an AA back is predominantly marking Greenwood.

I think you’re onto something! 🤔 Or was that, I think you’re on something? Either way, it was great to win today!

The positive to Kai’s game tonight is he simply played a solid team game and was rewarded with a couple of goals himself.

He didn’t try and do anything too fancy, which at times he has been prone to do. He simply bought his teammates into the game when he needed to, applied pressure and got his goals. I reckon that was clearly his best game at senior level. Hopefully he’s given an extended run to build on that.
His simple crumbing goal on the left was strangely delightful. Saw the situation unfolding, took it cleanly, neat snap without his heart rate going above 85 bpm. Exactly what we need.

actually thought our other small forwards could learn a lot from lohmann getting to front position for crumbing opportunities today. bailey frequently too lazy to be there so far this season, rayner going for miracle speccies and charlie looks like hes carrying an injury and has no zip to him.

linc has been playing really well but feels like most of his goals are from marking on the lead producing set shots rather than crumbing at the feet of hipwood and daniher too.

Based off history I really should cancel those flights anyway given I've never seen a Lions win in Melbourne. The Demons game last year is the worst example.
