It was probably always going to be the most interesting match of the round after last year, Finn v Daicos and then the Ginnivan factor. So the AFL in their brilliant wisdom chuck it in the worst timeslot
Game is sold out and will be packed full of Pies and Hawks fans. Should have been the 3.20pm C7 game though.

Does Buttler, Ramma come in for Watson and Lewis.

Does Hustwaite hold his spot? Does Mitchell come back into the side? Does Breust hold his spot? Does finn come in on the back of his Box Hill performance?

In: Buttler, Ramma
Out: Lewis, Watson

I'd like to think Hustwaite gets another chance this week. Which means Finn misses out.
Breust gets more than a few matches to prove himself, been constant performer over 13 years. Has more than a few points banked.
Mitchell needs to come in after two solid weeks, not sure for who though.
Agree entirely with Breust holding his spot!

Bit surprised that a few want to see him at BH after a couple of quiet games. Tough racket given his excellent 2023.

Even when quiet, opponents will have to keep him in close check given how dangerous he is.

It is Wreatlemania weekend, so let's view round 4 as a wrestling card.

This is the main event!

He had a statistically good 2023, but he also spent far less time up the ground, and provided little forward pressure

Selection will be telling on the coaching mindset for this year.

Gunston in for lewis would be a safest option that is most likely to succeed for this week. With butler for watson or maybe mitchell in and hardwick fwd?

But hope and think ramsden plays, unlikely to impact much for this week but what an opportunity to get him out there in a big game and crowd.

Based on it being a Sunday game, team will be announced at 5pm Friday evening.
Team has a light training session today, main session Friday morning before flying to Adelaide Friday afternoon.
Team will take 24/25 over with them, with players not selected not going to Adelaide this weekend.
Ramsden most likely to come in to cover Lewis - fascinating watch as to whether he or Chol assists Lloyd Meek with rucking.
The cover for Wiz is the interesting one.
Butler put his hand up the past fortnight for Box Hill is the logical choice. However, if they bring Shammy in, means Karl moves to a wing and other players like Croc and Moorey spend more time in the forward line.
Could also bring in Easy to play on Cox which helps free up Sicily, which then means Weddle or Amon can push forward at times.
Big watch on match simulation Friday morning to give an indicator of thinking for this weekend.

C7 have given up their Sunday game in favour of Thursday, and foxtel also cracked the sads for not getting marquee games
Pies played the last game of Gather Round last year as well - AFL wanting to maximise the amount of eyes on the end of Gather Round. While not in a marquee time slot (Sunday 5:40pm), being matched against the reigning premiers to finish off the AFL's pride and joy is actually a big deal - wonderful opportunity for the team to take a scalp and make a statement

In: Ramsden, Butler, Maginness
Out: Lewis (inj), Watson (inj), Breust

FB: Hardwick, Frost, Scrimshaw
HB: Weddle, Sicily, Impey
C: Amon, Worpel, Mackenzie
HF: Moore, Chol, Macdonald
FF: Ginnivan, Ramsden, Butler
Foll: Meek, Newcombe, Nash
Int: D'Ambrosio, Ward, Maginness, Hustwaite, Morrison

Want Shammy back in the side as well 4 changes might be too much.

3 losses in a row and the only changes most are proposing are due to injuries.
How is that plausible
Not sure on your point? Breust has been sub par and someone in the seconds has been performing well. Whilst only being a few rounds in makes it hard to pick on form for the seconds, it's something the club needs to get way better at.

For some reason, most Pies fans I know are nervous about this game.

Dons and Geelong shot lights out against us. With a bit more luck and composure we could of given them both a run

Nothing will give me more pleasure then seeing Ginni light up pies this weekend

Could we? I don't think we will, but at the same time, it won't surprise me if we do. We tend to start slowly, games and indeed seasons, and I saw some, albeit fleeting, good signs on the weekend that we are just STARTING to get rolling a little.

Just compare the Geelong game to the Dee's game. Both those sides are contenders, both in premiership windows. Just for starters, we virtually doubled our score against Geelong than we kicked against Melbourne.

Pies won, but are still nowhere near their form of last year.

They're perpetually our bunnies, I give us a (very) sneaky chance.

Like the idea of weddle up forward. He just followed Cameron around so tell him to replicate it now as a forward. Need marking targets to stop pies intercept game.

Appeared Gunston struggled at BH - you can’t bring him in and not reward those who performed.

I don’t think Adelaide oval is a good ground for us - it’s a lot narrower than MCG and we use the width for our transition game. If pies can force contests they likely win.

However, Pies aren’t in great form - the unknowns are effort - if they want to atone tor the loss last year and hard to know how much the cats game in wet and short break will affect us.

Club really needs a win. Next week is suns in qld - we are their bunnies for some reason - and club won’t want to be 0-5 heading into the game with north.

My point is how can we not look to make some more changes, outside of the injuries.
Do you think Collingwood would want Magginness playing for a start?

Pies midfield isn't firing - backline hasn't set the world on fire without Nathan Murphy. Forward line of theirs with the small contingent is going ok.
Reckon Sam thinks we are close to a win and will have the team ready and raring to go.
Plus we always play well against the Pies going all the way back to when our coach used to rack of 40 possession games against them on a regular basis.
