Round 4 Trades

A bit of both.

I'll make up my mind on Thursday, we get an extra 4 trades this year. I've used 2 last week and might use them this week. Montagna has not scored as well as I'd hope so far this season. Saints look in really bad form.

True that. Thanks for the advice.

I'm smelling that Ablett will have a massive on this week against the Dees and then I wont be able to afford him :(

Ablett isn't scoring nearly bad enough. :( Even with a breakeven of 163 he'll probably get within 30 of that.

Just look at Abletts last 1.5 games a fair suggestion on how he will score this year. Has been pumped and can still avg 115 in smashings with no preseason. He is a required player to bring in, if you want to win. IMO will avg 120 maybe even more.

There goes the thought that Stanton, Murhpy are top 6 midfielders IMO you need more than that to win the comp.

Your gonna need

Montagna, Ablett, Swan, Boyd, Pendles, Bartel

JSelwood > Montagna

Getting Selwood in for round 7 is sure to be a very popular trade if he doesn't shoot back up too much after round 5.

Ablett in round 10. Bartel/Montagna will come later on.

Building that perfect midfield as quick as you can will be vital this year.

I sort of agree with this...only because I went with these 4 with my starting team.

I also have Watson. And I plan to keep all five for the entire season (unless one of them snaps a leg ) and upgrade a Libba/Swallow/Curnow/Harris into another premium.

Would I get Montagna? If he was avg 110 by the half way mark during the season i would. Maybe by then StKilda have found form and are dominating again with little Leigh the star..

But if Gazza is pumping out huge scores from now untill rd9...I'll be getting him after the GC bye.

I still reckon though that Chappy will soon rise to his usual greatness and really start doing what he does best every week...getting the ball 30+ times and tackling and kicking goals.

Don't think I can carry Hibberd as dead-weight on my bench any longer, and the top coaches will be eyeing him off as a downgrade target in about R8 or 9.

So Hibberd ----> McKenzie in the midfield?

Kills off the DPP link with Heppell, and will have Harris-Swallow-McKenzie from the GCS in the mids. Am not expecting to have all 3 there when the Suns have their bye in R9.

What are people's thoughts on Broughton? Held onto him last week expecting him to come good. I was at the game Saturday and thought he played a reasonable game and Freo smashed us but only scored 56...I'm likely to hold onto him but he's concerning me. Only problem is that no defender (apart from Gibbs who I have) is really an obvious choice for a sideways trade - Enright - but had an average game last week and is susceptible to a forward tag, Gram - good scores but obviously has the bye this week and St kilda not travelling so well, Adcock to pocket some cash - but no evidence he will step it up much more than Broughton over the whole season and if I'm going to sideways trade I want it to be for a certain premium...

Consider Suban?

I went Suban over Broughton for two reasons...

1. Suban was cheaper

2. Broughton has that job of sticking to an opposition forward all day and doesn't really get up the ground much. He stays deep in the backline.

Suban has been given more freedom by Harvs to play in different roles thru-out a match and has more oppotunities to play around stoppages further up the ground. He even finds himself up forward and having shots at goal like he did against the Crows.

just a thought..

Dont ask why, but I have Easton Wood, thought he would be a good cheap unique pick. Thankfully looks to be my only f@&k up.

Downgrade him to Smith, Stanley or Coad?
(Friday ofcourse after team selections but if all 3 named, who would be the go?)

Duffield has been disappointing as has Deledio, i'm thinking...

Duffield/Deledio --------> Suban/Adcock

and then Bewick --------> Curanow

Thoughts?

I'd go with Coad. They were talking him up at the beginning of the year as a mature age rookie, big body - ready to go, etc. With Browny out for a few weeks, his job security has to be improved. The 82 he scored last weekend is pretty handy (didn't see the game at all, in Perth, so not sure how that sits him, so far as being in there best players - can't be too far off the mark) and as he missed out on their first game, he still has a game to go, before his price will go up - if that helps any. I think he will become a regular for the remainder of the year.
