Can't be too upset with that. Pies were by far the better side. Score flattered us.

Crouch is a dead set gun. Liked Hunter Clark's game. Wilkie and Wood great as always.

Hill and Gresh were deplorable. Byrnes tries hard but does dumb things. Marshall's decision making was horrendous this game. Regularly slams the ball in the boot without ever looking.

Few of the kids struggled as well. Milera and Windhager were poor.

Finally, we can't keep carrying Cordy ffs. Excited to see what this team looks like at full strength.

Gresham is a dumb footballer.

It's not a confidence thing.

It's reading the game and having the skills to execute.

Doesn't work hard enough defensively either.

We overrate him. Compare him to a guy like Papley.

Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to be harsh on him publicly. But I've echoed your thoughts here for a while.

Nor should it. He's out best small player by a considerable margin and would be the first of our small brigade picked up by other clubs if they were all available.
Yeah, and I know he was crap tonight.
not saying he should be dropped but this is laughable. Higgins has been at least as good as gresham has over the past year and a bit and I'd take him long term over gresh any day of the week. Not saying gresh can't turn it around, but this is a seriously one eyed take even coming from you, mrs gresham

Played absolutely terribly, but still almost pinched a draw. Hope the boys take some confidence from that.

Unsolicited thoughts below, but my main take away is that I will 100% take them in a final anyday of the week! Nothing to fear there

Good:
  • Crouch carried the team on his back! 9 clearances, 33 touches and 2 goals. Having one hell of a year, but needs Steele back to help him on the inside
  • Wilkie supurb. Collingwood had 60 I50s (+14) and he was the main difference between us and a 6 goal beating. Captains game. Battle riding shotgun deserves some kudos too
  • Hunter Clark starting to look like the player he has the potential to be
  • Say it every week, but I absolutely love this version of Mason Wood. His defensive running is absolutely elite and he covers for so many others. Ultimate team player
  • Phillipou and Stocker had some really good moments
  • Owens game was not huge on paper. But he almost won us the game singlehandedly
  • Caminiti just keeps presenting. Dont hate him flattening Murphy either
  • Byrnes is really growing on me. Messy, but kid has heart and workrate.

Bad:
  • Cordy did a solid impersonation of the point post
  • We just could not stick out tackles. Frustrating to watch
  • Marshall was poor. Game was laid out for him to dominate. 32 hit outs and 7 clearances looks good on paper. But thought he was disappointing
  • Missed Webster. Hill's 3 goals on Pato were costly in a low scoring game. Not sure Pato has a spot anymore when everyone is fit
  • Hill and Gresh were anonymous. Credits in the bank. But they need a rocket after that. Hill slots just one of those 2 shots and result might be different
  • Butler didn't do a hell of a lot again. Not opposed to trialing a fit again Jones as a pressure forward and dropping Butler
  • Howard is just a dumb dumb footballer. His tantrum demanding the ball from a Nas kickout (when under 10m away) caused me to throw something at the TV. Maybe its my annoyance speaking, but would be throwing the piggy bank at Ben McKay as a FA
  • Did it cross Lyons mind to put anyone within 50m of N.Daicos all day? I know structure is important, but FMD that got repetitive. If we do the same thing next week with Saad I will spew
  • Just not sure Bytel is going to make it
  • Windy having the second year blues, but very much want to keep pumping games into him
  • Can we get some fit f*****g troops back sometime please! Need reinforcements to keep up this speed
Hopefully a loss exposes some flaws and allows us to improve more than a win! But at 4-1 (and a percentage of 144) it is hard to really complain about too much

I thought some of our kids looked like kids today. NWM got pushed around a bit. Windy and Pou struggled to impact at times.

The difference for me was the quality of connection by hand and foot. I thought Collingwood were able to get it to the outside or the running rebounder much better than us.

Tom Mitchell was very good for them.

Corey Enright has done wonders to our defenders IMO.

He is an AFL coach and if there ever was a bloke I want after Ross it would be him.
Agree, we have struck gold with Enright.

I saw Gresham get us over the line all in at least 3 games.

Call it for what it was…a shit performance in an important game. But, let’s not invent a narrative that he isn’t a decent footballer.

What we need is to get him back to his best, and I guarantee it will make us a much better outfit.

On another note I really like Bytels hands in close. I feel like we need to invest in him by way of game time.

Marshall?

Thought he had little influence in a game he should/ could have dominated.

Regardless, agree with most others… we’ll get heaps from that performance. RTB will fill their notebooks this week… reckon cuddly Ross will be a distant memory with some blokes.

Gresh… FMD. What is going on? One foot out the door I fear.

Oh yeah, the Pig Crouch is a beast.

He had 9 score involvements.
Plenty of clearances.
His ruckwork was a bit of a fail though.

So quite obviously Murphy was dishing cheap shots all game. Hammer’s a fairly laid back kid. Wouldn’t be going out of his way to drop blokes without a genuine reason

Should put together a highlights package of all the cheap shots, then role up to tribunal and show it. Then say "sorry i lost my shit, i'll try harder next time ".

Throw Steele back in that mid group and we probably break even in the middle. It was almost like we were one mid down at times.
Our F50 entries were just plain putrid for the whole game. PUTRID.
We turned it over under medium pressure at times. Just hack kicking which we have seen so much of over the past decade.

Kinda feel like potting a few players but ultimately its not worth it. They will review it pretty heavily. Many, many learnings.

I would hope that we are instantly better for the run. With Steele back and probably Membrey, we will have a stronger team next week.

We probably should have pinched it in the last quarter, and not in the last two minutes. We kicked 3.6 for heaven's sake from the 8 minute mark. Maybe three of those goals at a minimum were absolutely gettable.

Sucks to be 4-1 instead of 5-0 but I think it is an important loss to have in round five.

Coffield is the general, the last piece in the puzzle, our new age Goddard that can swoop across half back and pinpoint passes going forward.

Coff to King will be an amazing combo.

Where is Collingwoods duty of care if he “has a history of concussion”?

I liked that this was the "sorry we were racist" game, so instead of words they just start cheap hitting people then cry at reciprocation because you have a bit of a glass head. So now we look forward to the next 30 years where it'll be us saying sorry for previous players king hitting their mob and the Pies will use smoke signals and we'll lose players from inhalation and someone throwing Butler on it to muffle the smoke.

Geez pies supporters think they just won the GF, I’m not bitter after the loss which is strange, and feel even better after watching Ross press conference, seems like they were using this game as a test to try things out and almost pinched it, he seems quite happy, I’m quite confident next week and for the rest of the year, can’t win them all
