He barely connects with him. If it wasn't for his fragility towards concussion it wouldn't even get looked at.
Surely has to come down to reckless or careless.
Didn't intend to hit him in the head even if he did intend to retaliate.
The vision clearly shows Murphy getting him first.
Unfortunately, there’ll be baying for blood….
although, surprisingly, some media guys like Kings, Buckley, Joey are being very fair minded about it.

Caminiti will miss 4 weeks because it was intentional, high contact and severe impact given the concussion. Got nothing to do with poor treatment directed towards him.

Our hope would be to try and get the impact down to high which would make it 3 weeks based on Murphy's history and him leading with his head.

It's punishing players unequally and unfairly. Worse offences are being let off much lighter due to thicker skulls. The system is full of sh*t, zero common sense.

Think many are viewing Caminiti incident with rose coloured glasses. He will get 3-4 weeks. Murphy lowered his head and it was accidental but the result was concussion and he hit him in the head. Caminiti will take his whack and next man up.

Speaking of glasses, Murphy's first jab doesn't look like a "pushing action" as is reported that it is, so methinks there's 2 reportable strikes in that play just one was to the body and thus provocation which is a clause in that doc for the tribunal.

Me, I want ol Rushy to rock up with a folder with nothing but words written in bright pink crayon, hand them out to the sitting members for the play by play of the evening, use the AFL's own trick of doing literally nothing else outside of that one thing and let them argue amongst themselves and catch up on some sleep otherwise.

Oh I expect it, the mrp is a ******* shitshow. Doesn’t mean we can’t argue the validity of it especially when it affects our team and players.

Like, I get the “no point getting upset when MRP, MRPs” but I’m just looking at the genuine and legitimate angles we can and (imo) should argue.
fair enough. Being an overthinker I want to try not to worry too much about these things but that’s probably more of a personal choice

Look if he gets 4 I hope we challenge it. If we lose at the very least we show how idiotic the system is.

If we do that and it fails I’ll genuinely chuckle and then move on cause it is a total lotto.

That's the risk players take when they chose to make contact to someone 40m off the ball or when they sling someone to the ground.

The MRO guidelines are widely available for anyone to look at and find what the penalty will be for their actions.

Stats can mislead! We had a lot of contested possessions imo because we were handpassing to players who were under the pump. Lots of contested possessions, minimal impact. But also my point was that the Pies knew that they could just get it to the outside where they had ascendancy, so they just had to knock it or push it out. Not a possession, still a clearance.

Pies came in with a plan to get the ball outside as quick as possible and a lot of that was down to smashing it forward instead of taking real possession. Killed us all match.

It was always going to be 3+ as soon as you look at the requirements.

Doesn't matter if he ducks. The hit was intentional and under the other rules was high and severe.

Hammer will hopefully learn from it and comes back better.

Fwiw I don’t think he’s a dobber but his carry on after the incident given he initiated it made him look pretty stupid.

Looks like a sooky kid that started a fight, lost it, then carried on that the other kid cheated.
I disappointed Caminiti is going to cop 4 weeks and he didn’t land a genuine hit with intent.

That’s fine but then apply them consistently.

McKay and Ballard both elbowed blokes in the head to vary degrees off the ball, both were judged footballing actions, this is no different in that regard.

Nah can’t agree with that.

I don’t think anyone is saying he shouldn’t go but 3-4 is excessive.

Open handed shove (not strike) that was intended to the chest (not head).

If McKay and co get off as careless then so should he and the only thing that remains is the impact.

1-2 would be fair. 3 is excessive but not dumb. 4 or more is idiotic.
I think he shouldn't get suspended at all but he got him in the head, caused concussion, and it was off the ball. It's soft but the concussion will do Caminiti in. It'll be 3-4 unfortunately.

Exactly. It sucks but it's very clear with the guidelines. He's learnt the hard way that he needs to be more next time a defender gets stuck into him.

If this happened to one of our players I'm not so sure the comments here would be the same. He'll cop his whack, as unfortunate as it may seem, and that'll be it.

**** me dead have you always been a complete square?

Were discussing how shit it is

We all know its a chook lotto
We all know what the rules are meant to be and we all know its different everytime
something like this happens.

They are acting like Murphy has brain damage.

Probably giving Caminiti too much credit for Murphy having a soft skull

The concussion and severity is the only aspect that holds up to any scrutiny though. On precedent off the ball doesn’t matter (Ballard) and intent would be careless (McKay).

What does intentional mean, intended to hit body, missed and hit head or intended to hit head? Or it doesn't matter?
