Season 3 Whatever GIF by The Office

I'm afraid to say it but Barass and McGovern, both excellent body on body players will make mince meat out of Ryan (and probably Lefau too) in marking contests. Until Ryan can stand his ground in marking contests he's going to be a liability.
Yup… it’s a shame that at 31, we won’t have too many more chances to see Lynch embarras Barrass like he usually does

Tom Brown was on SEN today Dwayne’s wOrld..,,only caught the last minute of the interview

Tom doesn’t do much in his spare time

Says Ooze wants us to get it into the f50 quickly and score as quickly as possible… don’t pissfart around loooking for a better option…just go for it

When I heard the score quickly bit I thought of Cumbo…doubt we will see him anytime soon though
Didn't work very well when we just bombed it into the Saints defenders. Would've thought he'd have said lower the eyes at half time considering we have no talls, but I guess not

Personally, I'd rather we just continue getting used to our new game style rather than making a significant change to it just to nullify one of the few strengths the last placed team in West Coast has.

Alternatively, this week we should be training the ability to change directions going inside 50 and shifting the West Coast defense away from where we are wanting to actually kick inside 50.

Training to counter a McGovern type would be more beneficial rather than simply nullifying it as it can be implemented against other teams as well.
The way to play McGovern is not too constantly bomb it into the forward line, he will pick it off all day. If we get the smalls to run around & keep them on the move is a better chance of beating the Eagles.

From the extended squad; Id have the 4 bolded as the 4 interchange.

Interchange from:Tyler Sonsie40Jack Graham34Mykelti Lefau42
Sam Naismith24Kane McAuliffe28Ben Miller46
Hugo Ralphsmith13Sam Banks41

Sub: I think it'll be Sonsie or Graham

Really feel for Rossy - just got to a point where he is a consistent starter / performer and the bloody injury curse strikes again.

That being said, 2024 was never going to be a year we were going to contend and all these shitty injuries to key players is gonna give Yze a real good look at our second stringers. I’d love to see him rotate a few through the positions we’re lacking and give these young guys a few games to show their worth and know they’re not gonna be dropped after one week. The next ten weeks I hope we see all of Lefau, Kosi, Cumbo, Ryan, and Naismith get a few games in the forward line. No huge expectations on any of them, but with the knowledge that there’s spots up for grabs and the best performers in the next block of games could secure a longer term spot.

Peroxide -Sonz to go into the midfield this week to replace Ross in the position he was drafted to do and also keen to see Campbell go to the wing again like he did at times last weekend.

These injuries suck but there will be players who could really benefit long term and will be a great test of Yze’s character as a leader

Ross had a sore toe all of last year and had surgery in the off-season, hope it's not a mismanagement of that...
Likely altered gait and running mechanics to compensate for the toe. This would have lead to increased stress through different parts of the foot. Stress fractures are from repetitive force or overtraining. I've spoken about this previously but I firmly now believe Meehan's rehabilitation and reconditioning is not up to scratch evidenced by the soft tissues and injuries on our list. I believe Ross' return to play following his toe issues have contributed to his stress fracture - he's likely overloaded the joint too early which may have been an instruction to say, progress to bounding/leaping/jumping when Ross should have still been straight-line running at the time. Stress fractures aren't always avoidable but given Ross' pre-existing toe injury - in this case it quite possible could have been.

2024 is now the year of working through players and tactics. We have no chance of advancing with these injuries. But we can try out players and see what we have whilst speeding their development.

Still reckon we should beat the Eagles, but this is getting ridiculous.

I really think we (or Dimma) have ruined poor Jack Ross.

Go back and watch his 2019 debut game against Port Adelaide, he was fantastic, and he provided similar output playing in the guts right up until his unlucky injury about halfway through that season (was it an ankle vs Freo on that shitty surface?)

Then he recovered but couldn't get back into the team cause all our stars came back, but we kept him out of the VFL grand final because Graham got injured, and then didn't bloody pick him.

Then, this is where it all went downhill, Dimma asked him to slim down and become a half back in the off season (yes, let's turn a bull of an inside midfielder with decent/handy skills into a back flanker), and he couldn't get back into the team for a long time, until being made into an OK winger.

Had we just said, mate, you're the next picked in our best inside midfield, keep plying your trade and you'll get back in (and he would have, Prestia spent more time out of the side than in it), he would probably have been an improved version of the 2019 midfielder.

Instead he's a bit of a lost soul who has now FINALLY got his chance again only to be injured for 12 weeks. It's just ****ed.

The thing is McAuliffe got injured last week, he's 18, I don't know if they're just going to stick him in the guts for a full match.

Dow perhaps the same to a certain degree, injured last week.

The hard part is playing both of these guys when they've already got some sort of injury, and expecting them to play out a full match.
