Getting to the point where a match with no injuries gives me the same feeling as a win
I too get elated, jump off my couch and do fist pumps when we don't lose any players to injury.
On a side note the two games that we won that I was the most elated about and did literally fist pump were these two:

Some would say the grand finals in 2006 and 2018, however, and I can only speak for myself, I was too stressed to have that instantaneous elation, it was more like relief.

Hurn rumoured to be avoiding playing to focus on the approaching salmon from the south west.

I heard he couldn't play coz he was taking Darren Glass "deep sea fishing", which to me sounds likely a lovely day on the ocean reeling in big ones. Apparently Hurn has just the rod for the occasion.

Loved the BigFooty thread on that 'rumour'

Topic poster: Rumour that Shannon Hurn and Darren Glass were caught in a compromising position the other night

200 likes on that post or something ridiculous.

Edit: found it

Our fans put up with it so why would they change?

Unfortunately our weak fans just let the club do whatever.

Nisbett aint changing til it hurts his wallet
I assume you are being a true supporter but not attending or watching any West Coast games to send a message to Nissy and co. Wow, I admire your strong support of the club. Not watching anything to do with the club probably explains how your opinions are always so spot on as well ...

From WCErevival too lol. That wasn't intentional.

Ok it's confirmed to me now we are tanking especially with Hurn being out for general soreness when he didn't even play last week.

I see what's happening again. Club is low-key tanking for draft picks.
I'd like to see us properly tank then if this is low-key

I scared autistic children :(

Not tanking- just a bad run + a culmination of

  • injury prone footballers too good not to be playing now reaching the end
  • usual football injuries
  • bad luck (Hewett rolling his ankle just 15 seconds in, Cripps ankle, collision injuries etc)
  • Imbalance of AFL top liners against guys who would normally be in the 18-23 picked each week with a full list.

Say what you want about Simmo, but this is just rotten luck for any head coach to have to try and rebuild with this happening 3 years in a row. It stalls all momentum from our AFL side and below.

On the plus side, even with Long out for a little bit, weve seen he is AFL quality.
Ginbey is a gun. Chesser has gotten some games. Hewett has gotten a taste of what is required. Edwards has come back in and shown a bit. Results don’t really matter in 2023 - we weren’t contending this year.

As long as we keep trying to develop our young guys and work on the way we want to play- this year can and will still prove beneficial even if right now the light at the end of the tunnel is really a train (breaking the hamstrings of all it collects in its path)

I hope we take an ultra conservative approach to bringing players back from injury for the rest of the year.
No point risking them in a year like this.
Maybe we can start by giving injury prone guys like Shuey an extra game on the sidelines or resting kids like Ginbey if they seem fatigued.

Bit sad that these highlights of a great club get less likes than a joke about Hurn Glass giggles.

Side based on who I believe to be available

FB: Duggan, Barrass, Witherden
HB: Jones, Rotham, Shuey
C: Hunt, Culley, Clark
HF: Petrevski-Seton, Darling, L Edwards
FF: Waterman, Allen, Petruccelle
R: Jamieson, Kelly, Gaff
INT: West, O’Neill, Hough, Trew
SUB: Ginbey
EM: Foley, Barnett, Bazzo, Dewar

We have one spare above the minimum 26 which is Dewar who at this stage of his career is barely WAFL level, let alone AFL

I’ve assumed Jamieson will be fit. If he’s not Foley comes into the side as neither Barnett or Bazzo are ready yet

Foley could replace any one of West, O’Neill or Trew but he was the one I left out since he’s not played in 3 weeks so rather he finds touch in the WAFL. Alternatively he could be sub instead of Ginbey if our young star needs a proper rest

Problem is that we already did this with guys last year

Players available for selection according to the coach .
Actually the 24th player will be emergency

Did he actually say 24 yesterday in the press conference?

Don’t remember him giving an actual number but maybe I missed it

Any chance Clark could turn into a Matt De Boer style tagger? Is he quick enough and smart enough?

Or just for shits and giggles we could actually play him in his preferred position and see how he goes.
I think he played as an inside mid for about 1 quarter last year and I thought he was good. Be nice to see him get a few games in there.
