Let's talk more about Marshall. Why doesn't he just buy a front row seat if he wants to lead that wide all the time and then spray shots all over the place? Any danger of standing up at some point and taking control of the forward line in Dixon's absence?

No

Great game to not watch by the sounds
In all seriousneess I think it would be a useful academic exercise to watch again, just to try and understand what was so successful in the first 15 minutes and how it was completely discarded subsequently. For example, how was it that Butters had more posessions in the first quarter than the rest of the game combined.

I'm not going to though. I'm already on hypertension meds.

So you want Hinkley to start throwing things around on the boundary line? That makes him a better coach? I’d rather hear him talk about what went wrong and tell us how they’re going to fix it.
He hasn't known the answer to this for at least 7 years. What makes you think that changes today?

He'll bring Dixon back, win next week and it'll be business as usual for the hagiographers.

+41 contested possessions to Collingwood.

De Goey 15 contested possessions vs Horne-Francis 13
Daicos 15 contested possessions vs Rozee 9
Mitchell 14 contested possessions vs Wines 11
Cameron 11 contested possessions vs Soldo 6
Cox 8 contested possessions vs Sweet 2
Sidebottom 7 contested possessions vs Butters 8
Pendlebury 5 contested possessions vs Drew 5

That's -21 contested possessions just in the midfield.

Uncontested possessions +22 to Collingwood.

Daicos 16 uncontested possessions to Butters 26
Sidebottom 14 uncontested possessions to Horne-Francis 10
Pendlebury 12 uncontested possessions to Drew 11
De Goey 11 uncontested possessions to Wines 11
Mitchell 8 uncontested possessions to Rozee 9
Cameron 6 uncontested possessions to Soldo 3
Cox 2 uncontested possessions to Sweet 3

+4 uncontested possessions.

In other words, we held Butters on the outside (hence the 26 uncontested possessions) and only got a +4 advantage for it while Daicos and Mitchell cleaned up Rozee and Wines on the inside and got the ball out to other players. Says a lot that Butters had 15 possessions to quarter time, then only had another 16 across the other 3 quarters when Collingwood were on top.

Contested marks +4 to Collingwood. 13 contested marks to Port Adelaide's 9...that's +4 on Collingwood's average of 9 per game. Mason Cox had 4 contested marks. Sweet had 0. Dixon is good for almost 3 contested marks a game.

Inside 50s - 66 to 47. Remember that we averaged 62 inside 50s coming into this game. Again, showing that Collingwood had a midfield dominance.

Playing Dixon, Finlayson and Boak over Sweet, McEntee and Mead might not have won the game, but it would have given us a better contest. That first quarter was the worst thing that could have happened to that team because it made it seem like they would do Collingwood easy when they were always going to come back over the top after having a rest. And it's not surprising that Rioli turns to s**t as soon as there isn't a foil to play off of.

Thanks for this. -21 contested possessions in the midfield is really interesting for how our midfield has performed previously.

Can you direct me to intelligent discourse.
Look the hyperbole about the loss it what it is but come on EP anybody who has watched this club in the past 10 years knew without a shadow of a doubt this was a L and a big one and thats exactly what we delivered

Port hasn't won with its backs to the wall when it counted since well can you name a win?

Probably the QF against Geelong in 2021 in between now and then and in the years prior are a litany of big game losses all that was different this time was we didn't even win the inside 50s or clearances we just got smacked all round

Even neutrals are saying Kens big game record is terrible if the board and club aren't willing to engage in intelligent discourse regarding the performance of the senior coach WTF should we?

A dribbling moron once said "you get what you deserve" seems occasionally even the mentally challenged are correct

I'd like Ken after 12 years in charge to transition from 'learning' and 'building' to actually doing and winning, how can he fix it when HE HASNT BEEN ABLE TO FOR 12 ****ING YEARS!

Like serious question what would it actually take for people to say this guy doesn't have it?! seriously when does that point get reached?

11 years of garbage says it all.
We may make misguided judgements along the way but the broader narrative says it all.
11 years this club has been r*ped by total incompetence nothing more to say.
Get rid of Koch and hinkley get some fresh air instead of the perpetual stink that hangs over Alberton.

I’d love to know what changed in the midfield from the second quarter

Jackson Mead is not an AFL player. That’s another experiment that can end anytime
Jones and Mead are two to add to Evans and McEntee as being perennial not quite up to it or at best bottom 6 calibre players.

One positive is Jase Burgoyne. He went missing a bit in the second and third quarters but it speaks a bit about his talent and toughness that he was in our best 5 players on a day like today.

I mean, it is totally irrational to care about a sports team but you quickly stop feeling stupid about it when you realise this sports team is being paid $13 million between them precisely because you care so they can go f*** themselves and win something.

Preaching to the converted here. But contracts mean nothing now. Hinks has his hooks into our Vic young guns and the club fears they’ll go back home if Ken is sacked. Richardson said this privately to a group at the AGM.
Let whoever wants to walk with Ken go (except JHF)

Don’t care who it is and build the club back up with blokes who actually care

Fancy hitching your wagon to Ken hinkley.. don’t let the door hit you on the way out

No. Just wear a headset and coach and do something to arrest momentum against us for once in his life.
