Thoughts:

We really should win this one. We have had a shocking tendency over the past few years to drop games we should be grabbing by the nads. We find ourselves in the somewhat admirable position of 5th on the ladder, with four wins and one loss, albeit to last years Grand Finalists... By a solitary point.

One thing that excites me about this week is that we are finally starting to get a good balance of players. This week, bar a couple of big names, is very close to an extremely solid, quick, efficient unit. Crameri up forward has been a revelation for us, and, if he manages to lose his man throughout the game then we could see the bustling number 12 kick a bag.

On the flipside, however; There is Johnno Brown for the Lions. He always seems to get up for Bombers games, and we need to make sure that he is kept quiet. Whether we put Hooker on him, NLM, or even Hardingham, we need someone that can compete with his outstanding physicality... Which I'm not sure we have.

The midfield battle will be interesting- Black is an ageless warrior, and Redden, Adcock, and Rockliff have impressed the hell out of me in the small amount of Brisbane footy I've seen. The key for them is to put a heavy tag on Stants- He provides a majority of our run and his disposal is at an elite level, if they can limit that then that will do their chances a world of good.

In closing, we need to win this, and I'm sure Hirdy has drilled it into the boys heads over the past week. Losing games that we should win is not on if we are to be a Top 4 side, and this is one that we need to stamp our authority on. If Stants and Jobe get up and running, our goalkicking improves somewhat, and if we keep the pressure running throughout the entire game, this could very easily end up as a drubbing.

Essendon by 72 points.

Up early. Nervous.

Not a good sign.

Look forward to the day again where I can approach these sort of games with extreme confidence when the occasional mental fragility of this playing group is a thing of the past.

its not on 7 in melbourne....

with the way our forward has been going (bar the carlton game where cramers should kicked 10) i cant see us winning by 40+, 4 goal win shold be doable though!

was interesting watching Collingwood last night, they appeared sluggish and took them ages to get into gear. sometimes a 9 day rest can work against you.

I'm predicting a close one. Bombers by 9 points

Cheers for the edit, Kong.
There's a lot one can miss at 1 in the morning.

Heading into Etihad now, I'll post when we find out who the sub is and if there are any late changes. Let's get it done, Bombers!

Really need to put this game away and win by 50+. If we lose this, we'll be back at square one.

When was the last time we beat Port, North & Brisbane in the same year?

It's the early game, of course it's not on 7.

Should be a slapping, 10 goals or not happy. If Heater gets himself rubbed out again, I shall unleash the inner Hulk!
the early game is actually supposed to be the 7 game, but Geelong-Demons has been pushed forward (due to light concerns) and they've taken that for whatever reason (or maybe Fox has taken us). Our starting time probably should have been pushed back.

Nervous about this game, but if the roof is closed it should be a better quality game from our boys than we had at Lake Gabba last week. Good luck to everybody, and hopefully no injuries to either side this week.

+1

Relatively similar thoughts, but I'm tipping an upset at Etihad. Go Lions!!
