Even without Marshall we should have a big advantage in the ruck as well as with Ryder and Campbell rotating up forward, could be the difference.
There backline is pretty good and with Boak and Wines they are a good team, forward line is not there strongest point.
We just have to bring the effort if not we lose.

Hinkley prepared for highly contested clash with Saints
Port Adelaide expects goals to be at a premium against St Kilda and in the tropics of north Queensland - so the team approach will make the biggest dent on the scoreboard at Cairns.

Pretty happy with the team overall. Even the emergencies make me happy.

I was flat that Owens and Byrnes weren’t playing vfl but then I realised that they’ve been replaced by Jones and Billings.
I think there's a sneaky chance they take a flight home and make it too.

I suspect that Campbell might take most of the around the ground ruck work with Paddy at the centre bounces and then pushing forward.
Campbell can just work Hayes over early, leaving him tired against Ryder. That or Ryder will then match up on someone like Todd Marshall or Finlayson in the ruck, both of whom I'd expect him to beat.

I know that the team lineup doesn’t really matter as players normally get shifted around as necessary, but it’s funny to me that both Brad Hill and Jack Sinclair aren’t named in the backline.
Ideally it would sit very well with me to have a sort of rotatory between Hill, I Sinclair, McKenzie, and Billings as our smaller, accurate by foot full on runners who just chain up the ground and fuel our ball movement.
In fact across the ground I’m just starting to realise how good our typically “smaller” players are. And by that I mean, players who don’t come across as tall and/or play that typically smaller position.

That’s a pretty darn good crop of smaller-type players across the ground if you ask me. Great mix of X-factor, grunt, class and endurance. Throw in the regular mids (Crouch, Ross, Steele, Byrnes etc) and the mid to tall players across the ground (from NVM to King to Marshall) it’s a well evened out team in that respect for our gamestyle. Should hopefully hold up well in all conditions through that diversity.

With Higgins and King averaging over 3 goals a game and Membrey and Gresham averaging over 2, our forward is looking the most dangerous it has since the early 2010s.
If we can get the ball into NWM and Hill’s hands as much as possible, we’ll have a day out leading in front of Ports lumbering talls in Jonas and Clurey.

Our form has made us a team to beat now....beating us now is a bit of a feather in the cap to a side struggling a bit this year....if they can roll on from last week they will see us a side to prove their worth still....lot of talent in their list ....

I think that article about Hinkley said that the average winning score in Cairns is 86 or something. It doesn't sound like a ground or environment that encourages huge blow out wins. We have also gone in quite all in a hot sweaty climate.
Ripping down high marks and smooth ball movement are probably not going to be a huge feature of this one. It will probably be a scrap and that's actually something that Port do well at in the recent past and we seem to be better at this year. Hopefully it's a good match with a win.
