5 day break and back to back tough contests the past fortnight. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Windy come in for a full game and Billings also in. No idea who for. Possibly Paton and Pou with one to the sub role. Maybe Crouch doesn’t get up. Just a bunch he’s sore based on his subpar game against the Blues. He’s had a fairly heavy role in the first 6 weeks and done extremely well.

Given Billings only played 3 quarters in the VFL I feel they're still working him up to full-match fitness. I doubt he comes in this week

As if he would say any different.

Steele was looking hobbled during preseason and before his collarbone too.
He's come back in now and is clearly still hampered one way or another.
His performance on field says more than the words from his mouth.

Same with Phillipou- ask him how he's feeling and I'm sure he'd say "fresh as a daisy, 110%, could run a marathon a week"

Noone wants to miss a game- but for the longer term good (ie finals), it could well be worth doing some targeted player management imo.
Norff, Giants, Hawks and the bye are just ahead for any player management. Not against a top 8 team that sits 4 and 2.

totally, and if Byrnes does in fact keep those types out of the team then even better for us but I'm just not 100% sold that he's capable of being a premiership type player but he's doing everything right presently. Can he keep it up and has he got any improvement left in him will be a fascinating watch.
I think everyone is operating in an environment that will enable them to get the best out of themselves if they have a crack😊

Phillipou looks pretty good to me. Can't see him being pushed out. Zac could free up Sinclair if he did play HB but his kicking is a worry. I doubt Byrnes is anywhere near to being dropped.
Jones has missed a huge chunk of preseason training & hasn’t played a game at all..will likely be in Sandy side for a while!

Honestly can't believe that Zac Jones name is even being mentioned, he is an ordinary player. Great burst of speed cancelled out by his messy disposal, great aggression cancelled out by the times he goes too far.

Last year was a write off for him, this year he hasn't been able to get on the park. So the bloke needs to get his form back to where it was 2 or 3 years ago before he's even in the mix.

Billings I can absolutely see the excitement for. He has shown far more at senior level and has no glaring weaknesses that RL hasn't been able to address with other players.

The only change that has to be made for this side is for King to come in for Cordy. The rest will come down to form, players who find themselves on the outside will need to perform and hope that a spot opens for them, nothing is given.

FWIW, my current 'locks' are

FB: Wilkie Howard -------
HB: Sinclair Battle -------
C: Wood Ross Hill
HF: Higgins -------- Owens
FF: Membrey King Butler
R: Marshall Steele Crouch

I expect the gaps to be filled by :

3 Defenders From: Stocker, NWM, Webster, Paton, Coffield
1 Tall Forward From: Caminiti, Cordy, Hayes
1 Midfielder From: Clark, Windhager, Bytel, Jones
2 Wing / Flankers From: Byrnes, Gresham, Philipou, Billings, McKenzie
I could see us going with just King and Membrey, then playing 3 from the wing/flankers category instead.

Honestly? I'd like to see Gresh sent to Sandy - if nothing more than for the attitude he showed when Caminiti walked into an open goal and snubbed Gresh (rightly imo)
The optics have been pretty ordinary from Jade lately...which admittedly means sweet FA if he was playing the house down, but he's not.
Send a message.
Gresham contract situation is interesting…I dare say he’s on big money..maybe too much, which means the club needs to make a call on whether to let him trigger his free agency!
Interested to hear your thoughts on this?

No, he is about to complete his pre-season. Its become very evident that no player is coming back and playing games until their fitness level is good enough.

We all love Philipou and want him to have that real breakout game but Billings is 100% an upgrade on him at the moment if 100% fit and ready and will come back into the team quickly. Philipou a likely sub this week.

Dont see it happening, RTB has spoken a few times with how pleased he is with the Pou.
His numbers for the little 1 percenters that RTB loves are very good

He would preform like Windy and Sharman as the sub in a game...only we know what he is about to unleash, speccy and blind turn master class😍, probs 2 goals a 1/4 as well!

Pou is more of a marking threat than Billings so until Max comes back he's got that going for him

Think he should be the sub.

Perfect way to ease him back into it.

Expect Pou will stay in at least until Max and Hammer come back, unless he’s spent. His ability to contest in the air is important and his pressure numbers have been 45-50 the last 3 weeks at least, which is very good.

Rozee Buters and JHR ore Brisbane a new one in the 3/4, it was glorious to watch
To be fair, Brisbane were well off their best that day, we were switched right up, was ass more than class.
I’d actually rate your mob more than Brisbane this year from what I’ve seen.
And considering the effort we brought out last week, do that this Friday, and it will get ugly for us. Also Marshall, our dead eye dick being out, as well as dixon, we lose that forward grunt and goal scoring capability. (Jonas out is an advantage, he’s cooked and sad as it is, hope he stays out of the team. Farrel we can cover, although I like him and his beautiful kick in the team. Georgiades is unfortunate, he’s an excellent young player and he would have been in if not for his injury).

I wouldn’t blame injuries for this lose though, i just don’t trust our team to bring effort each week. We are due for a rubbish game right about now.
Our only hope is that the trio of Rozee, butters and JHF put on a midfield masterclass and blow you away in the Center and for us not to need to rely on Aliir to intercept every entry, he can only do so much.

I agree, I think Mattaes will get a spell this week as he's been just ok in the last few weeks. Question is who goes sub, it has to be between Mattaes, Windy and Bytel. I'd say Mattaes to keep some backup firepower in the forward line.

What do you think of your coach?( I live in the Adelaide Hills to qualify the ques. Have quite a few PA supporting mates)

As exciting as Pou is, he’s pretty much Jack Billings in his first year. Most numbers incredibly similar.

If Jack is back to full fitness and form, he’ll be an upgrade on Pou, as he’s going to be comfortably better than he was in his first year.

Will be a similar story with Jones and probably someone like Byrnes. As well as Byrnes has gone, a fully fit and in-form Jones would be an upgrade. Much more game-breaking ability, IMO.
This is extraordinary. In no world is Jones an upgrade on Brynes.
We are better off going forward if Jones is never required to play again.

Wait a second... Did you miss the Carlton game? He was one of our best players.
So he responds after a poor game with a very good one and now you want to drop him. Very confusing.

Except Pou is doing it for a side currently top.

Billings did it for a side rock bottom.

So under pinning the numbers would be the weight in outcomes and Pou is miles ahead.
