Is that what Yze has said? I missed his presso.
I’d have thought he will play a fair bit of ruck time.

I haven’t seen the presser yet but Kosi was dropped. Surely we aren’t going with just Lefau against Lever and May. Demons will play McDonald forward and I reckon Turner will take Lefau. May on Naismith leaving Lever as the loose man

Ryan couldn't catch a cold playing in the AFL side, what has changed to make him the forward we are missing?

Hes the only tall fwd option we got left. Kosi is just woeful. Ryan's last two games in the ressies he has kicked 7 goals and taken about 10 merks
I just want to see players rewarded when performing at the lower level.

Sorry to intrude but I keep seeing the term 'eco' used ... what does it mean in this context?
Does it mean the same thing as in counter strike?...
Emotionally checked out.

Kmac getting to the Ressies via Osmosis. Need to up the salt concentration in the VFL to pull him through a little quicker.

Those who want Ryan to play against Gawn again have the shortest memories. A repeat of Ryan in the ruck gifts Gawn fresh legs, so Crayfish it is.

Not expecting to win many this season but will hang tough safe in the knowledge that after the nonces hand out about 4-5 priorities, the Tiges might get a top 10 draft pick. So be it.

Tissues could be isssued for Sookers and the Snotters. Free delight for oppo posters who come peeking in our threads. Grow up. Rather, get a bit of Heath Franklin's Chopper in ya!! ......"HTFU". Youtube it. There's a strong whiff of soy latte to this point.

I think Nank while still playing ruck will play forward a bit more. Can’t see any other reason you’d play Naismith infront of Ryan, unless you wanted to nullify Gawns ruck work. Naismith ain’t a forwards a’hole. I know Nank isn’t great forward either, but think 2 rucks is more about trying to stop melbournes midfield dominance

This was the same player who earlier in the season was out bodied by a smaller player.

Reading between the lines here are my expectations.

Martin has made it clear he wants more midfield time as that’s where he can best help the team, and this week he’ll get his opportunity.

So with Hopper back and Martin getting more midfield minutes, there’d be limited opportunity in midfield for Sonsie and McAuliffe this week, so better for their development to get a full game of VFL in the midfield, rather than bits and pieces or the sub vest. So I’m happy with that decision.

Then Gawn always tears us a new one. Worth the risk to throw both Nank and Naismith at him rather than Ryan. And I’m also more confident Naismith can bring the ball to ground up forward better than Ryan.

Grimes back in makes sense … yes he’s past his best, but he’s a good match up for Fritsch who is their most dangerous forward.

Given where our season is at with finals out of the equation, we have to accept that often selection is going to be what’s in the best interests of 2025 onwards, not just this game. So full midfield games for Sonsie and McAuliffe provides better long term benefit for the team than a full VFL game for Hugo or Banks (as an example).

If Sonsie or McAuliffe play seniors there’d be next to zero CBA’s with Hopper, Bolton, Martin, Dow and Graham. They’d get cold on a flank, and it would mean in Sonsie and McAuliffe’s case a total of bugger all midfield development in the best part of a month with the subs vest and byes taken into account.

I look at Philipou from Saints … taken with pick 10, and has played almost zero midfield as constantly in the seniors. He’s really struggling after looking like being anything. What now for him? Into the midfield without any gameday minutes in there in the VFl?

Now if only I can get Macca out of the 23…..

We might stop Gawn but not sure we’ll kick more than 8 goals with our forward line

That’s true, Bolton, Dusty, , Lefau, maybe a couple from our small forwards. We’ll have to scrap goals.
But if you let Gawn put it down the throat of Petracca, Oliver and Viney all night the ball won’t get into our f50.

Can’t believe after West Coast ran us of our feet we have made the team slower by three men. If you bring in three then surely remove three slower ones. Hopper for KMac, Naismith is slower than Kozi and will at least provide in the ruck , Grimes is a terrible selection and only Young could’ve gone out as he plays as a stationary object and Banks was horrible in the VFL so I can’t understand the logic in him playing. I would’ve kept Sonsie in for Banks as Sonsie has just not been given enough time and has shown good growth in patches. Our midfield selected is the worst in the competition and backed up with four terrible Wingers. Dow still getting games tells me our MC has either been kidnapped by Dimma and mini or are as incompetent as them in their last season.

McAuliffe not named in the VFL side so he may miss out altogether this week and be the emergency

Sounds good in theory but Sonsie named in the 2’s but no mention of McAuliffe so I presume he will be the emergency this week and not play at all

O please do explain the decision making behind Kamdyn being our worst on the ground every week and still picked

Burt Reynolds Roger GIF
ONly because he makes a contest, and is hard at it. does some good things but lots of fluffs too

Who are we playing on the wings lol everyone wants Mcintosh and Pickett out, fair enough, but no one wants Hugo or Banks to come in. Somehow we are playing all 4 of them which is interesting.

McAuliffe was part of a midfield that got obliterated by West Coast. Melbournes is far better, Hopper had to come in. Ryan is rubbish, who cares if he never plays again. Sonsie should clearly be in for McIntosh, I assume Banks plays for Short and Miller goes forward. Playing 2 rucks not the worst, given Gawn single handidly beat us twice last season.
ryan is better than you say, he is a forward not a ruck. mculaffie stays for me.

With the selection of Hugo, Macca, Banks and Pickett I reckon I’ve got it sussed.

Banks will be sub.

Then one of Macca, Pickett or Hugo will play a forward tag on Lever - probably Pickett. Makes no sense to select 4 x wingers if that wasn’t the plan.

We will play Naismith up forward rotating with Nank, and May won’t out mark them the way he’d out mark Ryan. Lefau should also have the confidence to cause spillages as he keeps developing.

That’ll be the plan to prevent Lever and May from intercepting at will, which is our only chance of being competitive.

The problem is two of the assistants are still there.
