He big enough and quick enough to play a defensive forward on May. If he can bring the ball to ground it would give us a chance.

Tyler Young. Can everyone cut this guy some slack? Yes, he had a shocker against Eagles … but at one stage there was a run of 27-3 inside-50’s and zero midfield pressure, so he’s not to blame entirely.

And the game prior, he was part of a defence that held Saints to 11 points at half time.

He’s 196cm and has played 24 games. Even top end draft picks taken as KPD take more than 24 games to find consistency.

Our other 198cm KPD in Miller has played 29 games.

I’ve got faith both will be excellent KPD for a long time, and the great thing is they’ve got the size we need.

Kicked 3 in the first Q vs demons last year

Lots of hit up passes inside 50 and we looked a million dollars. Best we looked all season.

Second half went back to dopey bombing it in and the rest is history.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I remember Hodge getting a kick in the centre of the Launceston ground and rather than kick it inside 50 normally, he kicked it along the ground; a tumbling punt. Still covered 50 metres or so. Very deliberate, and no doubt designed to help his small fwds; Breust, Cyril and Puopolo.

Never understood why we never tried it. God knows how many times we’ve kicked long to Jack, only for it to be picked off by blokes like Moore, Howe, May, Lever, McGovern etc.

Especially in a big game (who knows when we’ll be in one of them) but blokes get the fumbles with strange bounces on a big stage.

GF blowouts are common but there’s no way that any team is generally 10 or 15 goals superior. You get some strange bounces and one team fumbles a few times early and before you know it you’re shot.

I’m a fan.

i remember one game we were depleted af and it was a definite tactic but you're right, very rare

with current cattle it should be a gameplan enshrined in dogmatic devotion

Waterman kicked another 5 and in WC's best yesterday, so not a mug after all. Match up was wrong, Young plays well on the tall leading types, not the ball of muscle like Waterman.
