Last post at the G on Anzac Day. Seeing/feeling it live one of the highlights of my life. Even on tele it’s truely spine tingling.
One match that I actually prefer being close.

I think Reef has genuine talent a future and I worry about the way he has been used. He gets little opportunity to settle and shine with his constant role as sub or a couple of games then out. I know it's very tough with our very settled forward line but I worry about him being grabbed by another club if we are not careful.

I agree he could do with some continuity, it'd help him develop his game and build confidence but at the end of the day he's not etched in the best 23 just yet.

For one he's probably only keeping McStay's spot warm and secondly you have a number of other guys who are arguably equal 23rd on on our list, depending on what role you want to fill. Guys like Macrae, HH, Sullivan etc. even Leggy shouldn't be left waiting in the wings just because McInnes deserves to settle in and own his spot.

Sometimes sending a guy back to VFL to give someone else an opportunity rather than simply dropping them is the best approach.

I don't mind Reef going back to the VFL for a full game.

And we need to keep bringing in younger players like Harvey when we can. Maybe Sullivan next.

Reef didn't get dropped due to the lack of form.

The proof will be in the pudding but it's obvious match committee opted for more pace and versatility with HH.

Or maybe they just wanted Reef to play 100 minutes rather than back to back games as sub. So if they weren’t going to start him in the 22, better to play him in the VFL.

I agree - there’s a reason Reef didn’t come on until late in the piece against Port, and barely played. To me, I think we found a winning formula with WHE as the third mobile tall(er) forward, and a pack of small runners at their feet.

HH can play as either a small forward or wingman, so won’t change our approach in that regard, where Reef is a bit duplicative to what WHE was doing

So rather than engage in discussion on a discussion board your preference is to sit back and stir the pot? Apex nailed it…

For real? 🤣

So it’s OK for a poster to have a crack at someone’s suggestion as …

“… one of the stranger selection suggestions I’ve seen in a long time.”

… but you get your knickers in a twist when the suggestion becomes reality and the poster who had the crack gets called out for it?

We all expect to get called out when we make buffoons of ourselves. It’s how Lou Richards came to clean the Bourke St Mall with a toothbrush, or paddle across the Barwon in a bathtub.

And then doubled down after being called out for it

That’s partly it too with Will and also Lippa having one out of the box. Unlikely they’ll back up though and repeat the Port performance any time soon. I expect all things being equal for Reef to be back very soon, possibly as soon as next Friday.

Best of luck today. It's a big day and our clubs do an amazing job giving it the respect it deserves.

Come 3.20 you can all get stuffed though. 🤣
Thanks. Happy Anzac Day.

But I might beat the rush and tell you to get stuffed now.

I mean, his goal was a hand pass (gift) from bobby into the goal square so let’s not act like it was some impactful play.

They obviously looked at the weather and wanted to give HH a crack, and a full game for reef in the vfl. Totally fine

He also gave one off

Balances out as far as I’m concerned

He did as much as one could do in 5 or 6 minutes of game time in a dead match

I’m not exactly a Reef Stan or anything but sorry, that’s wholly unfair

Maybe another aspect is that selection committee wanted to provide HH with the opportunity to experience an ANZAC Day (Reef has already played in one)

IIRC it’s not uncommon for us to blood a player, or give a young player an opportunity to play on ANZAC Day.

Successfully joined the party. He certainly wasn’t dropped for what he did in that ten minutes of party time. It’s the 90 minutes doing nothing on the sub bench that was his undoing. That role is very unforgiving

Heading down to the Arkaba Hotel this afternoon with my daughter to watch the game with the SA Collingwood Supporters Group. It'll just about be the next best thing to actually being at the MCG for it (which is something I really want to do one of these years).

Just across the road from one of the best supermarkets I’ve ever been to😂

there’s a venue from the past.
I went there once.

Anyone remember JJJ DJ, Maynard #F Crabbs?
Looked a little like Austin Powers with Brains from Thunderbirds glasses.

He was DJ & MC there that night.

Ah Adelaide.
Thank god you produce good red wine.

exactly

It’s one of the stranger selection decisions I’ve seen from this coaching panel, and one I can’t in any way agree with. Kid didn’t even get the opportunity to do anything wrong with 7 minutes game tame last Saturday. He’d have every right to be really dirty at this decision given Harrison hasn’t set the world on fire in the VFL.
probably a horses for courses decision, they see HH better in Matchups I guess

I seem to remember Maynard #F Crabbs from JJ back in the AM days when double jay was at its peak. Then again the fact I remember AM means my memory is not that reliable these days.
