I'd be going Jeffery to half back, luko forward, read out. Have Andrew as the chop out ruck although they don't seem to want to have a defender as 2nd ruck. Swallow probably for Rogers but not sure if they drop Rogers after just the one game. Atkins as sub with the plan to play him in Flanders position and unleash Flanders in the middle in the 2nd half.

I can picture Rogers playing at home with the other 4 debutantes this week, and then probably dropped from there

Issue is, if we drop some of the younger players, we go back to the likes of Sexton and co who we are looking to move past.

I think all the others have been serviceable (Rogers has only played one game), Read is the only one who I would be putting back to the 2's.

I have liked Lukosius down back, played well yesterday and his kicking out of the back is great. Also we don't want to keep flipping him back and forward, need him to settle somewhere.

Agree. Luko improved defensively.

Read had 3 games and I would drop him. Not giving us much. IMO, Moyle would do the same job if not better.

I suspect Rogers will get 3 games. Not criticising debutant but I would like to see him chasing with some desperation.

Clohesy, Graham, Walter doing well.

Budarick was “managed” from the ressies. Can’t see him getting a call up.

And Sexton has played half a game of reserves in 2 weeks…

For me Read & Holman out.

Moyle & Jeffrey hopefully in.
They are part of our future best 22.

Luko moved forward.
Jeffrey down back.
Moyle 2nd ruck off the bench and/or rotating forward when needed.

Move magnets to replace Holman.

Uwland, Collins, Andrew
Flanders, Ballard, Powell
Clohesy, Miller, Fiorini
Lukosius, Walter, Ainsworth
Berry, King, Rogers

Witts, Rowell, Anderson

Humphrey, Jeffrey, Moyle, Graham.
Sub: Swallow

Rebound defenders needed. Can see why Dimma is chasing Rioli, Cummings… And can then get Flanders back into the midfield rotations.
I'd agree almost 100% with this team.
Holman and Berry are the same player but Berry has a better overall skill set.
Jefferey in to the side and give Moyle a chance in forward pocket plus ruck duties. Reid will be something special but too early and Jake Rogers will need to develop in the 2s (but deserves another game at top level).
The other one who desrves a chance is Faulkhead who plays a similar style to Clohesy and would be a great combo BUT Fiorini holds for the moment.
I've said for years we are so deficient in defence - Rioli and / or Cummings would be a massive boost. They won't want to come if we don't show a lot more grunt though.
Insipid performance from almost everybody. I thought Flanders wasn't as bad as some - made a couple of horrendous errors but overall set up a lot from defence - not his fault our forwards can't mark and our mide (excepting Rowell) were way off.

This side will nit make the 8 this year but MUST finish 9 or 10 to manitain any form of confidence moving forward.

The future is with the youth and I never want to see the names like McPherson, Sexton, Lemmens, Day etc in the 1s. We need a couple of very experienced players to steady nerves when things start to go wrong and they are not in our team yet. Even Martin would settle the forwards and give King etc a bit of space while oppo focuses on Dusty. 2025 is the year we should make the big step up and this year we'll beat the teams around us, below us but not the real big boys above.

It's a fine balance between developing kids and having chance to play finals. We were crazy young against Swans, basically re-build line-up. Even Hawks played more experienced line-up yesterday. Just North is hopelessly young and then us.

IMO, we do need to play finals asap. If not in 2024 (and then probably forget attracting a top player), it's a must in 2025. Players will not stay forever based on promise. 6+ years and players will possibly start leaving like May, Lynch.

Most people said we underperformed and should make finals in 2023. This year we got the same line-up only one more year experienced plus great academy kids.

I still believe our consistency should improve around 10 games under belt when a new plan will gradually become second nature. But it's a close call for me.

What annoyed me most against Swans was not adequate effort in 1st quarter similar to the game against Bulldogs. We also had bad start against GWS. Essentially games over after 1st quarter.

I truly hope you're right. I've always thought 2024 was being overly positive and 2025 is the do or die year for this current crop. Luko back to Adelaide, King, Rowell, Anderson etc starting to think of future. We have to at least be knocking on the door this year and actually get in in 2025....and this week is another Mini GF from a positivity persepective. A loss at home to the Eagles this week would be worse than a loss to Hawthorn (which we averted well).

I always find it weird that a group of star players would consider their futures elsewhere if suns don’t start winning when the my are the **** ers playing in the field.

I still find the idea of a "Mini-GF" against West Coast... at home laughable.

Devalues the term IMO
I watched both games and West Coast looked like a different team to previous years. This is definitely a danger game. I hope we pump them, hopefully we play better than last weekend

This game defines the term to perfection. A MUST win game against a side most would have thought a basket case only three weeks ago. Lose this and we move back a loooong way in the positivity and confidence stakes.
