Well, we’ve replaced them with Berry and Flanders. Not sure they goal power potency is any higher, but I’m hoping. Berry in particular is fighting for a spot. This is his chance.
Just joking. Holman, Ainsworth, Weller are big outs but they don't score a lot. Surely, someone else can kick a goal or two. Maybe Rosas, Chol will step up? Maybe Luko hits the scoreboard again.

Berry brings the pressure like Holman but that's it. His disposal is terrible. Not optimistic about him.

Are you suggesting that we will be missing scoring machines Holman and Ainsworth - 2 goals combined per game? Surely, Chol wakes up and scores 5 :)
Agree not huge goalkickers but still a huge part of our best 22.
Just dont see how we can kick more than 10 goals.
As far as Chol is concerned has been asleep longer than Rip Van Winkle and doubt May and Lever let him wake up this week.

May actually played like a crap most weeks so far. That only means he will bring his best against us.

It said on the AFL app that Ainsworth went off injured in the last few minutes.
Is it just 'soreness' from these guys or is something actually up?
I did go back to watch it, he got a corkie with few minutes left in the game going up for a defensive mark, was limping and manage to actually take a mark and kick before he came off.

Probably a proper corkie.

Berry is nothing special in vfl and the vfl opposition has been woeful. Still not seeing anything to get excited about with Flanders but hey here's their chance to shine, hopefully they do well.

Trouble is our vfl team has gone so far in the other direction, it use to be all kids and no older talent and now it's all older talent with few exciting kids. Blakey, Anderson, Burgess, Day, Berry, Tsitas, Stein etc. Should see a bit of a turn over this year with a bunch of academy players coming through

I didn’t this week but there were a fair few commenting on the vfl thread at the time.
We get you wouldn’t have bought in Flanders.
Who would have been your picks?
The players I would have brought in instead of Flanders (include Berry) would be any of the following :
Blakely, Burgess (BOG) , Uwland, Faulkhead, Jeffrey, Graham, Oea, Farrar.

I had a look at the kicks inside 50 against Richmond. Like fans have been saying for a long time, there is still massive room to improve. The failures come down to one of either

-Simply bad kicks
  • Miscommunications between mids and fwds
  • Bad forwards craft
  • Might need to drop Chol and use Casboult as the anchor so that King is freer to find space

R7 Richmond Tigers vs Gold Coast Suns Review – Wasting inside 50 chances

Great summation.

What you pointed out would that have to do with the coaching?

I think the bad comms might be down to coaching, looks like King is expecting kicks to the goal square on those. But I think execution being poor is ore obviously the issue. That could come down to hesitancy because the players are unsure of the plan but who knows really

It has virtually everything to do with the coaching.

The only reason I joined this site was to vent my frustration where this club is heading. If they stick with Dew the great players we have will have missed the opportunity to experience finals.

The irrefutable proof that Dew can’t coach is just by looking at his deplorable record with a very good list of early round picks. No other club would have tolerated his performance but the Suns extended his contract.

It irks me that the AFL News talks about the Suns on a roll having won the last two games. They beat two struggling teams racked by injuries.

Are you now posting the same posts in two different threads to double down on your view? :p No need. We all know your view on Dew. BTW, there are also forward line and midfield coaches responsibilities when we talk about deliveries inside 50 and forward craft. These coaches are most probably more responsible than Dew for King's patterns, skills. BTW, I think Ben King is doing a great job considering where he is coming from. Much better work rate compared to 2 years ago.

King kicked 5 and 4 in the last two games despite some obvious delivery/leading issues. Got to be happy with that. Otherwise, he kicks 8-10 :p Even lazy Chol could kick 2-3 every game if he converts easy shots.

Two points.

Do you think Dew deserves to be still the coach? Plus our forward coach Brad Miller is recorded in the AFL as having played 157 games for 120 goals. This equates to 75% per goal per game. Obviously not a great forward player and maybe not much of a forward coach.

The forward line structure is a disaster.

Yes.

This is the year for Dew to prove he can take the team to another level. So far he is hanging by a thread. I don't like his chances. But I had no problem to give him a 2-year contract extension. Most probably our key players re-signed because of him. A lot also depends on quality of coaches around Dew and injuries luck. If Witts played against Freo we would have been most probably 4W:3L and fans would be excited. It's a very close margin.

Most people ignore we went through complete re-build, with some key s**t injuries but next 1-2 years this is it for Dew.

I still remember when Tigers got hammered by 100+ points in the last round, Hardwick was basically gone and next year they won premiership (look at his assistant coaches during premiership years he got instead of being fired).

Put together 3-4 wins in a row, confidence goes up and we can still make it although un-likely. Injuries will play a role.

We are missing 4 really good players - Miller, Weller, Ainsworth, Holman. Demons are basically in full strength and hitting form. Can we shock the AFL world? Probably not. Everything would have to go our way and we take opportunities.

The team that Ross Lyons put together is Robert Harvey, Corey Enright and Lenny Hayes covering forward, centre and back.

Now compare the Suns team. .. Brad Miller (forward), Tate Kaesler (defence) , Jackson Kornberg (Development Coach?) Steven King Senior Assistant.

Further begs the question .. Why was Josh Drummond sitting beside Dew on the bench?

Is it too much to hope that there is going to be a smooth transition of power shortly.

Will be interesting to see how we go with the outs we have: Miller, Ainsworth, Weller and Holman. They all play key roles in our structure and line up. Melbournes midfield class and depth scares me, also their ability to score quickly is a concern. If we pull this win off with the outs we have it will be one of if not the best victory in club history.

Seriously, you got to be Josh.

BTW, often in the past Josh sat next to Dew in the coaching box. Let's see how Josh goes against Casey tomorrow. We will probably have to play 4 academy kids but still it should be a strong VFL line-up.

You do realize, that one of the issues of Suns is attracting quality personnel on and off the field. Most assistant coaches live in Vic, we have limited soft cap, limited 3rd party deals opportunities.
