I'll tell you what astounds me about Aussie rules, after playing Rugby League and Union, if a guy stiff arms you, grab the ******* thing and bring him to the ground. In Aussie rules you even get a free kick out of it, as they took you on.
Why can nobody tackle in this sport?
same as every West Coast gameTwo sets of rules tonight.
must be in the crowd with Harley ReidAnyone seen Davey?? Needs to do something!
Well durrrso we have Duz and Durz
It’s going to be great for his development apparently.Anyone seen Davey?? Needs to do something!
Yeah maybe a little. What about now?
Yes I agree. It’s not Essendon Edge behaviour it’s more like Essendon Sledge.Incredibly sloppy to give away stupid frees and 50 today. Need to tidy that up.

Nah the umpiring has been fine. A few bad calls both ways but most calls were there.same as every West Coast game
Too soon?
Hahaha I wasn’t having a go at you personally. Hank on the other hand…..Ha ha, less confidence with that call now…
I have played both codes, in Aussie Rules my coaches made me run coaching sessions teaching our team how to tackle in different circumstances. In Rugby you stiff-arm because there's zero downside to doing it, and there's a chance you get away or through. In Aussie Rules rules, if you **** it up, you get pinged. It's super easy to bait the arm and grab it, or do what Merrett did and "swim" the arm away like they do in gridiron. This is all practice, nothing more.Because tackling is different in rugby to Aussie rules. The 360 nature means you have to practice a range of tackling techniques with very few players becoming masters of any of them. The fact rugby players are always coming forward at you also makes it easier whereas a stiff arm in Aussie rules can come from sideon
