Something I noticed at every game I’ve been to this year is we get a pretty piss poor crowd turnout, even compared to the opposition team. Last night I swear I saw more cats supporters than tigers and it would’ve been pretty close at the freo and Gold Coast games as well. Very disappointing from one of the biggest fan bases in the sport.

This is simply not true. Cats literally had one main section, the Tigers home game so the majority by far were Tigers fans.
Cats fans rarely travel out of Geelong on Fri and Sat nights.

You probably only thought that due to no goals by the Tiges and no celebrating noise well until the last when Brennan kicked a goal and that was loud as. The boos from tigers supporters when cats got a free and the call of balllll, when we tackled them, was easily heard more than the other way around.

I went to Rich v GC, they literally only had a handful of people behind the goals and were making noise only when kicking goals.

Well that was shizen.

There’s been alotve talk about injuries and last night Gabby doin her ankle had an impact and of course Ellie for the season.
But apart from Ellie we haven’t really lost any weapons, I don’t think.

I do like Ferg and think he’s great infront of the cameras and I’m sure he’s good with the group.
It’s been good to see some players develop new roles Gabby, Lynch and Dempsey getting more of it.
But I really don’t like the way we’re playing.
Trying to go around rather than thru compared to last year.
Also, how busy our fwd half is
KB, Grieser, Reid, Woods, Jones Mclelland and Yassir.
It’s just too top heavy trying to stop the ball moving on the way out.

Reid 7games 6 marks 2 goals
Grieser 7 games 13 marks 6 goals

That’s not good enough, especially when they’re playing alongside non contributors like Woods and Mclelland.
Last year we ran the ball at them and the def didn’t have as much time to set
Sheerin last year 4,400 mtr gained, this year just a tick over 3000.
I know the game totals aren’t the same but it shows that we are going around them and taking more time to set up chances.
Last year Conti 9 goals, Egan 4 McKenzie 3
This year Conti 3, Egan 0, McKenzie 0

KB has been huge this year with 25 marks and 35 tackles but IMO the fwd line is stacked with plonkers that don’t know how to play together aren’t good enough to win 1v1’s and it doesn’t leave any room for mids to run into.

Wakefield took 36 marks last year and straightened us up. Grieser runs under the ball and would be soft for a BBall player.

Someone needs to go outve
Woods
Mclelland
Reid
That’s where the impact of injuries shows. Having yo play those three in the same team.
Between
Grieser, Woods, Mclelland, Reid
59 tackles
Wakefield last season
42 tackles

They’re just not hungry enough.

you could add another 6 or more players who'd be as bad as Gresier, Jones
Egan i wouldn't rate as a bad recruit, average maybe.

with Ellie Mck injured Rd1 we've be under the pump midfield wise
our delivery into the fwd line has been woeful at best, we could have Melbourne's fwd line and we'd struggle to kick 5 goals a game.

as i've said to other posters, where do we get these speedy skillful players?
drafting takes time, recruiting takes time.
who would these players be?
what would we have to give/pay to get these players to come over?
Cats have three class mids in presp, Morrison and McDonald .ours are conti and Egan and then a huge drop off. Egan has been a bit more effective that she’s been encouraged to handball more often and quick , but basic skills like dropping chest marks are just appalling , 6-8 at least while cats marked everything . G train has been a major disappointment, if she can’t out mark a seriously smaller opponent time and again , what use is she , most goal oppo have been from frees

Gresier, Jones, and Egan were quite simply the wrong choices but they aren't the only ones, you can add Cox, Reid, and Graham.
I get why we got Egan to help with the midfield but by gee she's a plodder. Played a good game last week but overall just doesn't back it up week in and week out.

Gresier is worse than I thought, someone her size should be dominating forward 50 entries, drops too many marks.
You know it just goes to show how good Wakefield was. Courtney Jones is another pedestrian-type player.

Speedy and skillful types are there, other clubs are getting them, so why can't we? Recruiters have simply not done their job over the last 5 years. Look no further than when Moylan was playing, how she was getting games was beyond me another one of those mechanical types, who turns like a wheelbarrow, slow by ball to foot.

Ferguson no joke has no idea. The game plan is no good. The midfield needs more outside run, blind Freddy can see this.
Hosking is tough but that's all she is. Goes missing all too often. Egan is average and slow. Mackenzie is out injured and that hurts but the coach needs to mix it up, and look outside the square.

Maddie Shevlin should be in the midfield, she goes in and is quick, and takes the game on.
Sheerin gives good run from the back half and she is another who could play in the midfield, is strong over the ball, and breaks the lines. She wouldn't lose too many contests in the centre square or any contest around the ground for that matter.

How does this midfield look? Conti, Mackenzie, Sheerin, Shevlin. (Egan and Hosking out)
Lavey is another who we are missing her run, play her wing, or half back.

Seymour play her FF or backline. Gresier or Jones out. Cant have both, too slow.

Speedy and skillful types are there, other clubs are getting them, so why can't we?
i get what you're saying but, with speedy skillful types, how many of say
Heath, Mithen and Bannon from Demons
Conway and O'Dwer from Lions
would we be able to get?
i'd say none

Sheerin, Shevlin in the midfield takes out a 1/3 of our backline
who fills their spots?

Gresier or Jones out, Egan and Hosking out, where do they play?, do we delist them?

it's not that simple

Gresier has been a disaster. She is on good coin and cost us a pick and Cordner. I hope you can finally acknowledge what I’ve been saying for 3 years that Sheehan is clueless and needs to go.

i do acknowledge what you've said that Sheehan is clueless and needs to go.
but she's not the only one.

Nathan Chapman (Specialist/Forwards coach)
Lauren Tesoriero (Backline coach)
Emma Grant (Forward Development coach) also works closely with the AFLW Tigers’ young players.
these 3 need to be looked at.

Ryan Ferguson (Senior Coach) needs to be closely looked at, is he the one to take us forward?

I don't like Sabrina Frederick but I remember watching her and boy she was an amazing physical presence on the ground. Other team were scared of her. No one.. absolutely no F____ one is scared of Gresier she has no physical presence. The amount of times she pulls up before a contest. Embarassing.

.KB and Beth Lynch put their bodies on the line constantly.

We got too many soft players..

I agree.
She needs to look for the contact, if she can make it part of her game it will add alot

You might be half right but Sabrina was bloody ordinary and fitness ,level when she turned up ar Richmond was shameful , was nowhere even remotely close to being fit enough to play at the level

Ikon Park a ghost town compared to Punt Road.

No places to have a post feed either like Tiger land.

No wonder Collingmond moved to Tiger land.

Benny was there and now knows what needs to be done to get the women's team up top where Tiger teams belong.

Even our girls get ripped off by the umpiring, proving it's not indiscipline,it's because we are Richmond!

yeah, wouldn't be surprised if there are some major changes.

had to be the worst game we've played since the 1st year.
Interesting. We've played a lot worse, but with much worse players who no longer reside on the list.

Brancat going OK at the Goldy
Edmonds going well at the Bulldogs (who are going badly)
Sabrina killing it now at the Pies.
Monahan is solid again at the Lions
Jacques is passable at the Bombers, kicked her 1st goal
Cordner is solid enough at the Blues
Haven't missed Akec or Locke at the Hawks.

Would we have any back? Maybe Mon, maybe Edmonds. But really, we've lost no one special. And still we are this ordinary.

It's clearly on Sheahan, specially after last season. We went all bargain bin and again it did not work. It might take years for Grieser to work out I reckon - do we have the time? So lazy in the fwd 50. Her hands? Not sure why we are playing Eastman down back. Jones is an in the square forward - smart, but we have Greiser wasting there.

I said last season, while she was available momentarily, we should have thrown all we had at getting Toogood. I know she barracks for the Dons and all that, but that was the chance to get quality. She would be in our best 3, maybe 4.

I'm not going to be popular for this, but for all the ball Conti gets, I wonder what the assist or chain numbers are. She gives up a lot of ball still, not our worst by a long shot, she is arguably our best, but we don't get enough value from her ball work, and half of that is on her I reckon.

We need girls who use the ball naturally - won't drop chest marks, can take a ball in front of the eyes at least kicked at them moderately, and at moderate pace. When they kick, they do so with lowered eyes, and at least make it a 50/50 contest rather than toward the oppo like we seem to do at least 33% of the time, maybe more.

I'll keep tolerating Egan. Why? OK, she's slow of foot, but she just needs to be a hand-balling beast. She handles the ball better than most - she looks like it is OK in her hands. She needs to become our best 22nd player because of her hand skills, ball getting skills! We need a bunch of natural kickers though, nothing stilted, jerky, they must be fluid and willing to get better, that's were the game is going in the next five years. Turn on a dime, spot up a team-mate - not the opposition

As they start to protect the girls more from collisions, the game will be flicking the ball around by hand, getting forward by foot. We are not ready for that.

Yep, we got the worst of Sabrina - there were things outside of footy that stopped that working. Sometimes you can be the best you can, and still not the get the best out of someone.

100%

Look at our kicking - and that is Chapman's forte, supposedly. I can't knock Tesoriero based on outcomes, without our backline being as good as they have been, we would be bottom of the ladder - no risk, no doubt!
Again. results based, you'd be disappointed with Emma Grant as well - the cohesion and set up seems haphazard, I know in part that's on how the ball is coming in, but this is Round 9 and what have we got?

Ryan Ferg is great with the team, they play for him - that is not an issue. My biggest concern for Ryan is his lack of ball security in the game plan - he's never rated teaching kicking, I spoke to him about it. I know he doesn't. Until that happens, what we see is what we will keep getting.

We disagree on most things, but never on this. She must be on the Richmond Protection Plan.

The only reason conti doesnt look as impactful as she should is so many shithouse players surrounding her , I’m sure she overlooks certain options due to this forcing more difficult ones, I don’t think we’ve let go anyone hurting us , tho cord er would have taken more marks in f 50 than G has , she’s getting on tho
ess have done really well compiling their list and are a side to watch , soon they’ll be genuine top 3 side , lots of talent , move the ball well , lots of good marking options ,,,essentially nothing like us
would be hard on the coach as the team seem invested in him However his focus hasn’t been great in terms of game development, we’re stuck in this ultra crude game plan while rivals are refining there’s , he may well be sacked
we’ve been cursed by injury ,,,Ellie Mc never gets on the park , no 1 pic Ryan not a game in 2 seasons . I hope Ellie Mc sticks, she may be tempted to leave for a change of luck , seems invested but players are flighty in W

After finals last season definitely gutted at the results. I know we score heavy late in games. Sadly not enough. Can't get the ball even in our front half.
Yassir and Brennan have been okay. But not enough help. Greiser breaks her hand.
She didn't replace Wakefield

There's 110% effort but need kicking and marking skills
The cats game it lived in their fwd half for quarters. Lucky they didn't kill us on the score board.
Every oppo team seems to have gone fwd. RFC backwards
But a 10 week season for 18 teams is random.

Injury level has been quite extreme.

Having to play at ikon; yuk for supporters who live on the other side of town

But the team should be used to it and racking up wins.

Channel GR and sack em all?

Went to the game yesterday and saw Geelong dismantle Melbourne, at times playing like they played against us.

Love Mon Conti, but she can't do it alone.

We need Elle Mac firing for a full season And another big mid.
